My wife and I spent one night at the Hyatt. We booked a King view room and they put us on the 8th floor. Great view of the boat basin behind the hotel, the Ritz Carlton, and beyond. Room was spacious, well appointed, and clean. Decent, functional bath. I liked the frosted glass door on the w/c, which made it feel less like a real closet. Bed was super comfortable. The hotel itself is newly renovated - very attractive and modern. The staff was courteous and friendly. It appears to have many business travelers, but we were there in August, not March, Good location, walk to downtown restaurants, theaters, museums, and such. Short drive to Siesta Beach, St. Armand's, LIdo Key and other locations. We didn't eat in the restaurant, so I can't comment on that other than it looked nice enough. There's a coffee bar in the lobby that serves Starbucks. Newspapers are complimentary. The pool looks really nice, but we didn't happen to partake.
Only negatives - internet and coffee and a bottle of water in the room ($5 - really?) should be complimentary. On the other hand, the price for the room wasn't too bad, so it all works out in the end. By the way, we booked it on the Hyatt website, selecting best available rate. No other website had a better price. I think it was about $158/night.
Would stay again, no problemMore
