“Meh! Not as god as expected.”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We visited Roy's in Las Vegas and were looking forward to a chance to try Roy's in Sarasota. So, we started with their famous aloha hour: not nearly as good as Vegas. nice wine, but, the food was not nearly as fresh or as good. How is this possible? The tempura sushi tasted overdone in oil, whereas in Vegas it tasted fresh. Lobster pot stickers, he same. We decided to take a pass on dinner, though I had been looking forward to giving it a try. Also, we hated the necessity of valet parking. It might be free, but seriously, I don't like leaving my rental (and possibly uninsured) vehicle in someone else's hands. Really. What if it is damaged? Who pays? Overall, the food was not all that good, though not expensive for aloha hour. Cannot fault the service. They were terrific, really.

“Wedding Reception”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

As Mother of the Bride,We enjoyed the room rented to seat this party.
The waiters, and food were great at the time.
But.....
Anyone in our party whom ate the Ribs got sick.A refund was given, but that did not help the stomachs of those effected. Not sure what the problem was,but hope they work it out for the next group. =(

“Another Great Roy's Experience”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

I hadn't been to a Roy's in several years and had been hyping up how great it was the last time I went to a different location in FL. All my hyping was justly deserved - it was just as great as I last remembered if not better. Its an easy location to get to, free valet parking, and inside the restaurant is just gorgeous, plush seating, nice low lighting, just a great atmosphere. The staff is one of the highlights aside from the food, from the hostess to the bus boys everyone is attentive, friendly and prompt. Upon being seated we were brought spicy edamame to snack on while making our dinner choices. Jeremy our server made suggestions, most of which we followed and was very helpful with questions about the menu. We got a great bottle of wine, very reasonably priced that we shared throughout the meal. We split the appetizer canoe which had a very nice array of appetizers, our favorite was the wontons. I had hawaiian ono and my boyfriend had the butterfish, both were great but his was better. We finished with an out of this world pineapple upside down cake and creme brulee, the pineapple upside down cake definitely beat out the creme brulee! We had a great time, I'll certainly dine at Roy's again.

“Wonderful dining experience”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

We discovered Roy's on our Hawaiian vacation and were thrilled to find that there were other locations on the U.S. mainland. Dining there on our vacation to Sarasota was a top priority. My father-in-law made the reservation, and when the person taking them asked if we were celebrating something special, he said, "Yes, getting a break from their 6 young kids!" When we got to Roy's, they had made special menu inserts that celebrated getting a quiet night out. The manager, Jon, and our server, Bobby, went above and beyond to make sure that our evening was special. They brought us champagne and a special shrimp appetizer from the chef. We had delicious sushi and ribs for appetizers and ono and butterfish (which Roy's is famous for) for our entrees. They were all excellent. The icing on the cake (literally) was a complimentary dessert sampler with the to-die-for chocolate cake, pineapple cake, orange mousse, and coffee ice cream with churros. It was a fantastic night out...beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, and wonderful service. Will definitely return when we're in the area!

“Beautiful & Bountiful”

We're so lucky to have a Roy's in SRQ. My husband and I celebrated his BD there last night. Gracious and attentive, as always, the staff were helpful recommending some changed menu items. Shared fav canoe appetizer selection. My cod was phenomenal and he loved his short ribs. Wondering how they'd put a BD candle in their "must have" choc souffle, they brought us an extra dessert! Awesome, as always...ahhhhh!
