“All in the little details”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

This was my first experience with Indigo. The foot print for the rooms are the same as any other HI. The difference is all the little details that we're put into the space. The glass shower in place of a tub was a nice touch. The art wall really added color. It did seem cleaner than most of the 20 hotels I stayed at that month. I really like the concept for the short stay. The bar, food, and staff were very attentive and professional. Food, and drink we're good, and very convenient.

The only thing I could comment as far as improvement is tea in the room (had to pay 2.50 a tea bag to make the English half happy). And the laminated hardwood floors were damaged from water swelling.

Room Tip: Didn't rate value because I used rewards nights and was upgraded because of platinum status.n

Dear SAR-Swimmer1980,
Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, albeit a brief one, and we’re glad that you noticed some of the little details that we’ve implemented to set us apart from other hotels. We appreciate your suggestion regarding tea in the room and we will certainly include teabags with the coffee packs in the future. We hope to see you again soon.

The hotel was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and maintained. Service was excellent. Location was convenient. But no bathtub, and only a tiny, unappealing, outdoor sitting area - the only two things that would stop us from staying there again.

Room Tip: We had an executive room. It was very spacious and comfortable. Not sure what the other rooms were...

Maybe it's my age, but I'm not a fan of these new age hotel designs with the vinyl wood floors and the murals on the walls in the rooms. I particularly don't like being in a shower that is open to the rest of the bathroom. Has anyone else ever had a maid walk in on them in a hotel room?

The hotel was fine, the staff was "meh" but the cleanliness could have been better. I was there only one night on business; probably would not be my next choice.

This is a small, boutique hotel in a great part of Sarasota, just steps away from the performing arts center, a few blocks from some great restaurants and a short ride to the beach. I would definitely recommend staying here.

When I called to let them know I'd be arriving late, the person on the phone knew who I was without having to ask, since their phone system is linked in to their reservations, they were able to match my number to the system. Pretty cool!

When we arrived, the desk host told us we had been "upgraded" to a better room (also pretty cool) and we were on the top (4th) floor at the end of the hall away from the elevator. I think the room upgrade consisted of a refrigerator but the room was pretty nice anyway. Another reviewer mentioned that the room next to the elevator was noisy and I remember thinking that I was glad not to be near it, I would imagine it could be noisy. So be sure to ask for a room located well away from it.

The bathroom has a huge, glass-enclosed shower, with a teak bench. The hotel provides Aveda toiletries - a nice touch. The large vanity gives plenty of room for two people to spread out. I thought the toilet placement was a bit awkward, but really not a big problem. One suggestion for the hotel: If you're going to encourage guests to reuse the towels then please provide towel racks or hangars of some sort. There was no place to hang up the towels so we had no choice but to leave them in the shower to be changed. We kind of "threw in the towel" so to speak.

The room has a hallway leading to the room that's furnished with a console table that really gets in the way. It houses a lamp and the little in-room coffee maker, but the hotel might think about doing away with it (the table) as it's really not very functional.

The bedroom is quite large, and is well equipped with a very comfortable bed and linens. The pillows were great and there were plenty of them. I usually bring my own, but if I had not I would have been very comfortable. On the bedside table was a CD player/clock/radio with a CD of music for Hotel Indigo. I didn't try it out... what was really needed was a way for me to plug in my phone charger without having to unplug the clock radio. I don't use a clock radio anyway because I have my phone, but if the lamp had an a/c socket in it that would have been great. The desk had a lamp like that.

There was a very big comfy armchair and ottoman, great for relaxing - we didn't need it because we were off out every day, but was very comfortable. The desk was huge and the chair was comfy - I used it and it was great. I really appreciated the free in-room wifi. The hotel across the street (first initial "H") makes you pay $9 a day for wifi in the room, they only provide free wi-fi in the lobby. So this is a GREAT feature, thank you Hotel Indigo!

The TV was great, we didn't use it much.

The room doesn't have any drawers, but I didn't have any issue with that. It does have a luggage rack for a suitcase and a great wardrobe with loads of hangars, and two nice robes & two pairs of slippers for guest use.

Let's see, what else? The lobby has a small restaurant and bar. We were there on Christmas day and they had a nice breakfast buffet.

Another great feature is free parking, and plenty of it. A lot of it is in the basement parking garage, which is nice in Florida if you come here in the summer - you don't have to get into a hot car!

Overall a great little hotel and I will be sure to look for Hotel Indigo in other cities where I travel.

Room Tip: Go away from the elevator.

Green Features: The hotel provides a re-fillable water carafe that guests can fill from a filtered water station in the lobby, but they need to provide more than the two bathroom glasses. Also they encourage you to reuse the towels, but don't provide anywhere to hang up towels.

We’re so happy that you enjoyed your upgrade to our top floor, and the additional amenities which include the mini fridge, robes and slippers, and a complimentary snack and beverage.
Thank you for the suggestion regarding towel racks, we are in the process of ensuring that every bathroom has hooks for the towels to alleviate this concern.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the hallway table and the clock radio on the bedside table. We will take those ideas under advisement.
We’re so pleased that you appreciated the free in-room wifi which we are happy to provide to our guests along with complimentary covered parking. We’re also very happy that enjoyed our delicious breakfast buffet. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Great staff and location. Rooms were clean and very comfortable, just need some softer pillows. If you are not worried about being close to the water but want to be close to good restaurants and Main Street, this is a great selection. Just a quick car ride to marina jacks, Lido Key.

The RPCV (Returned Peace Corps Volunteer) Group of Sarasota, FL held their annual Holiday Celebration at the Indigo Hotel on December 15th. It was organized with the help of Lani Klass, their events coordinator.

We began at 6:00 and while thirty participants sipped on their drinks the servers passed an amazing assortment of Hors D'oeuvres that included Baked Seafood Strudel, Crab Cakes, Chicken Cordon Bleu En Croute and Spanakopita.

An hour later we were served Dinner that included their delicious Indigo Salad and a choice of Shrimp and Scallop Brochettes, Angus Strip Steak or a Vegetarian Entrée. This was topped off with and Eggnog Chocolate Mousse. Everything was delectable and we are already making plans for next year's Holiday Celebration

Room Tip: We didn't stay in the hotel, just used their restaurant facilities.

Dear MarciaLang,
Thank you so much for choosing to host your party with us at Hotel Indigo Sarasota. We are always happy to see The RPCV! Our Sales Manager, Lany Clas, is an exceptional service professional and a joy to work with and we are so pleased to hear that your event went so well. Lany, and our Chef, Erin Baehman, put together a stunning holiday menu and we must confess that we made a little extra Eggnog Chocolate Mousse to share. We look forward to seeing you again next year and hopefully before December.

Nice, comfortable, bright, clean, stylish room. Lots of white cottage type furniture gives a more southern feel then other hotel indigo's we've been in. Friendly, helpful staff. Only complaint is quite a loud elevator. We were 4 rooms down and could hear constant elevator noise beginning around 5:30 am every morning. Walk to the Toasted Mango for breakfast, this was a good find. Also a quick drive to downtown and lido key. I do wish they would upgrade to the Keurig coffee machines in room like the other hotels in this chain. Also, if you can't find a full length mirror (shhhh it's in the wardrobe). Also there are no drawers storage. The storage is the large wardrobe and a shelf in the cabinet under the TV. Would stay again (just far away from the elevator). Also if you want a pool, They only have a wading pool. Overall this is a very good choice of hotel.

Room Tip: Stay away from the noisy elevator

Dear Kathy R,
Thank you so much for your kind words regarding our staff and décor. We apologize for your experience with the elevator being too loud, we are certainly happy to accommodate a different room request. We use a local coffee and tea company for the coffee that we serve in our restaurant; I hope that you’ll try a cup when you visit us again. Thank you for your feedback regarding a lack of drawers for storage – we will certainly look into that in our ongoing efforts to improve the guest experience.
