This restaurant is consistently very good. I have tried it several times (at list 5 or6 times) and it is consistently very good food quality. The best spanakopita I ever had. The shrimp saganaki (sp?) also exceptional. The pizzas are thin crusted with all kind of goodies on it.
The setting is simple, service is very friendly and good and the prices are much lower than most of the restaurants on Main St around it. There is a section for outdoor eating too.

Good food, but slow service and it wasn't crazy busy at the time. Definitely try it if you're not in a rush.

I've been to El Greco several times over the years and it is consistently very very good. This visit I had the appetizer as a main dish, a mix of chicken skewers, spanakopita, tsatsiki, cucumber, tomatoes, dolmades and other items. Yum! Everything is delicious and fresh. Husband had the seafood appetizer for dinner - fried calamari, grilled octopus and shrimp - delicious. Greek salad was good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I definitely recommend.

We had a late lunch here and were glad we chose El Greco. We drove to Sarasota's Main Street and said let's just walk and pick a place. We were welcomed and promptly seated at a nice window table. We each had a glass of wine, I ordered the lamb shank and my wife had moussaka. The lamb is a bargain at $11 -- you might pay twice that in many restaurants in the evening. With soup for a starter, and the many veggies with the lamb, I was quite pleased. My wife had the greek salad to start, and was quite happy with her dish. Nice waiter, good service, very good food, very good prices. No complaints here!

The El Greco is at one end of the bustling main street in Sarasota. Inside it looks tired and lacks any charm. The staff are friendly and courteous but our lunch meals were average at best. Two of us had meals claiming to be fresh fish (tilapia and mahi mahi) but, if fresh, they were really past their best. The other meals, gyro salad and stuffed grape leaves were OK but not outstanding. We will be trying other restaurants on Main in the future.
