Great service, very yummy shrimp tacos for lunch. The decor is dated, definitely not a place for a romantic date, but fresh, tasty food.

They have so many wonderful seafood (and others) choices. We always get the Haddock ('freshly flown in from New England") pan-seared. This could not be better, so light and delicate. We ask for the spinach (no garlic) as our side and it is lightly sauteed-scrumptious! But, best of all they have a wonderful (super fresh) salad bar! Homemade dressings, so hard to choose which one. Fresh warm rolls come with the meals.

Upon entering a large space divided by a half-wall into a retail Fish Market and Restaurant one senses that this dining experience is going to be rather ordinary, and indeed, it was; from rain-stained ceiling tiles and large fluorescent light fixtures to a plainly utilitarian and simply decorated dining area. The unimaginative menu offered the same tired items offered by so many other seafood restaurants in the area. Attentive servers eased the pain of ordinariness. We were going to order off the Savor Sarasota menu but the regular menu offered items at a lower price point. The Lobster Bisque was ordinary with almost invisible specks of lobster? hidden within the soup. Seafood stuffed Flounder was good, but unremarkable. The Early Bird special (served 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm) of 1 1/2 lb. North Atlantic Lobster with Salad Bar for $21.95 seemed a good value - beautifully steamed female lobster (as requested). No desserts were ordered.

A quick perusal of the retail market did not offer the best presentation of fish and seafood; apparently, the restaurant is the main focus. For an unremarkable Wednesday night out Captain Brian offers a ho hum decent dining experience, ordinary with no surprises.

Last evening we had dinner at Captain Brian's and were not impressed. It was a large restaurant that had a moderate nautical theme- a large fish tank separates the dining room in half but had only a small modicum of resident fish inside. The walls are decorated with various previous catch stuffed and preserved for posterity.
I ordered lobster bisque followed by crabmeat stuffed flounder. The dishes were lack luster and totally unmemorable. My husband had the salad bar and a whole steamed lobster. The salad bar had some interesting items including pickled herring but no cream sauce with onions. The lobster was small,1 1/4 pound but sweet. The tail was on the tough side of being done. It was ok. The rolls served were reheated and tasted stale. There was nothing outrageously wrong with dinner but I would think twice before returning.

Being from New England , seafood is a priority . However , good New England seafood is hard to come by in Florida . Well , the Captain had many items from home , from oysters to lobster and affordable as well . We ate in then took a cooked 2 pounder (lob) home from their fish market for later . Everything was great , including the drinks and service .
