Go to a super market, then go to Morton's. There is a difference. Yes, Morton's is pricier. But if it is high quality, gourmet or unique items you are looking for, Morton's is the place. You won't find Campbell soup on the shelf. Located on south Osprey Avenue in the Hillview shopping area, Morton's also has a wonderful deli. And the fresh meats are...well, as fresh as you can hope for. But start with the bakery. Sarasota Magazine claims the Publix super market, the biggest in all of Florida, has the best bakery in the area. Maybe so. But Morton's is a close second. And it has more items to choose from. The chocolate eclairs are to die for. So are the Napoleons. And the German chocolate cake. But you get the point. Try it. You won't be disappointed. The deli has wonderful salads (ham, tuna, chicken, egg) and many other treats. The shelves are stocked with out-of-state and out-of-country items. We make it a point during our 30-day vacation in Sarasota to make at least one trip to Morton's to soak up the ambiance and the trendy meats and seafood and bakery goods.

Great selection of fresh entrees, vegetables and baked goods. I have never been disappointed with any item I have purchased there.

I appreciate specialty food items and this place stocks a few nice things but not enough to impress. I don't mind paying higher than usual prices for a superior product but hate when a store calls themselves "gourmet" and takes the liberty to charge a premium, even for things carried at the regular grocery store...(one example...Brianna's salad dressing $3.99 in the grocery; often on sale for $3, but $4.99 in Mortons).

Chicken salads were pretty good and were fresh. Decent white meat tuna salad also. Strange that they will make sandwiches but they don't have a sandwich menu or prices.

Tried 3 different bakery items; none of them very good. The cannoli was an awful excuse for a cannoli with a soggy, tasteless "shell" (if you can call it that) and the filling was grainy with an overpowering orange flavor. Also at the bakery, cashier rang up two different items I bought at the same price, when one was actually less. I didn't mention it to her because it wasn't a significant amount, but being charged incorrectly is a huge peeve of mine.

Final note...A previous reviewer pointed out that many items on the shelves have expired, so to to make sure you check dates, but then called this place "excellent". If any market (let alone "gourmet") has expired items on the shelves, that's not excellence in my book.
