The parking in downtown Sarasota is dear, especially when several blocks are "blocked off" for the outdoor market. But once you get to those blocked off blocks, you'll be wandering amidst some beautiful produce, plants, arts and crafts, and all sorts of goodies. On a beautiful Saturday morning, there's nothing better. You're also close to many of downtown's restaurants, and very close to Whole Foods, so you can really make a day of it.

I think of the Market every Saturday and try to make it down there. We go for veggies put them in the car and browse the stalls. Usually I wind up having something at The Alpine Steakhouse Stall. The line is always long but it is worth the wait. If you like turkey legs and don't mind looking like a little wild it is a real treat. Not for everyone ,but for me--- a must once in a while.
The whole experience is worth the visit when in Sarasota. It is hard to pass up some of the baked goods or coffees.
After our browsing ,we head for the waterfront for a walk in the park. Another Saturday must !

If you are in Sarasota on Saturday, it is a good way to start the day. Park in Whole Foods garage and begin your treat for the day.

It's always hard to get into Sarasota on a Sat. morning, but it is always worth it to browse the Farmer's Market in Sarasota! The high quality produce is hard to beat, and it is always fun to try samples of different foods! You can find all types of different foods, many of which are locally grown; always a fun way to spend a lazy Sat. morning ambling from booth to booth!

We were so happy to stumble upon this fun, happening experience during our recent Florida vacation. What a great mix of farm-fresh produce, locally-made gastronomical delights, arts and handicrafts, live music, and a never-ending parade of people and their dogs. We drifted lazily from booth to booth, soaking in the sun and the laid-back vibe. Fab finds included a bottle of Bloody Mary mix, pulpy fresh-squeezed o.j., organic strawberries, oranges, and tangerines, a deconstructed dress and jacket and some German pastries. This market packs in a lot over several big blocks. Enjoyed the Flamenco guitar playing duo very much!

I hate to give up my beach time, but this Farmer's Market is worth the time. Wonderful, interesting, local vendors with quality products. Most are willing to ship products to you and many have samples they are willing to let you try. I was a bit disappointed that much of the produce at one stand is shipped in from other states, but the rest is local. There is a LOT of organic produce but higher priced than the organic stuff at the grocery store. (ex: $7.00 for ONE organic sunflower!) Great food! But, they do need more places for people to sit down and eat something if they'd like!
