“My kind of fun: fresh air, exercise and sunshine.”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Kim and Krystal were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a large group (23) and they were able to accommodate all of us at one time. They showed us many different kinds of fish, star fish, birds, and trees. Explained how important mangroves are to the local environment.
The kayaks were light weight and easy to maneuver. I would recommend this trip to folks of all ages. Be sure to bring water and a hat and be prepared to explore.

“Exploring the Mysterious Mangrove Tunnels”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

My wife and I, (in our 50's) and her Parents (in their 70's) were looking for an excursion exploring the natural areas around Sarasota Florida. Upon the recommendation of some acquaintances we decided to book a Kayak tour through a Mangrove Grove with Flow Tours.
Our Guide, Krystal, Was terrific throughout our trip. Friendly , clear and concise in her directions and explanations, she was key to an enlightening and entertaining exploration.
My parents are senior citizens, but are athletic and fairly fearless about trying new things. They had never been in a kayak before, yet through a brief tutorial at the launch, they were quickly and confidently on their way!
There is a short 8 minute drive from the Biological Lab to a park/beach area, then a 10 minute beach walk to where the Kayaks launch. you may choose between single or double kayaks, which are the very stable open face type. After the orientation the tour proceeds to a shallow small "bay" and Krystal begins her informative talk all about the history and wildlife of the area we are viewing and she readily fields questions from our small group of 8 people. the channels through the mangrove are fairly narrow and you will use a combination of paddling or even pulling your kayak by grabbing branches. occasionally, Small dip nets are used to bring up specimens to look at and examined by all. The marine life we saw included a couple of different types of Crabs, Oysters, Cormorants, Dolphins, Mollusks, Egrets ,Herons, Mullets, and various other things. I didn't time the kayak tour, but it seemed to last 90 minutes.
