Owner description: Small, personalized tour groups, updated equipment including new, light, fatigue-reducing carbon fiber paddles, comfortable and easy to maneuver kayaks....And still the lowest prices guaranteed. Just a few reasons to come kayaking (tour or rental) with Sea Life Kayak. Explore exotic mangrove tunnels, paddle among manatees, dolphins and much more...With the premier kayak company in Lido, Siesta, and AMI. The owners of Sea Life Kayak Adventures come from science and conservation backgrounds and are members/volunteers of several environmental and wildlife organizations. While other companies are herding dozens of paddlers onto the water, we limit our groups to enhance the experience of our paddlers and especially the wildlife, minimizing our impact on fragile ecosystems. We use top quality, comfortable and easy to use kayaks perfect for novices or pros (most paddlers are newbies which we love), and provide instruction before we launch. Manatees, dolphins, flying rays, flying fish, cormorants (swimming with us or even riding on our boats!), And much, much more can be seen up close. We believe in tailoring our tours to our clients and having fun! Kayaking is not just our business, it's our passion. Thanks-Tom and Lauri

Recently I took my mom on her first kayaking paddle. She is visiting me here in Sarasota from Massachusetts.
We rented a tandem kayak from Sea Life Kayak at South Lido Park, Sarasota, FL. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Sea Life Kayak rents by the full OR half day. I knew that mom wouldn't make it a full day and really appreciated the half day rate.
The gentleman who set us up was very helpful and friendly. He calmed my mother's fears and explained safety precautions and gave her some quick instructions.
We had an absolute blast that day. The rental was painless and very reasonably priced. Thank you for your professionalism and helpfulness!

The previous reviews pretty much say it all. We enjoyed our trip with Tom and appreciated his knowledge of the local wildlife. I would recommend his kayak trips without hesitation.

We were in Sarasota for a family meeting, and ended up with time to spare. Tom had the kayaks ready to go for us at the put in, gave us some quick instructions, and directions, and we headed off. It was a great experience, and we went back and did it again the next day. Thank you for giving us some good family memories. Would definitely go with Sea Life Kayaking again if I'm ever in Sarasota again!
Kayaking through the Mangrove tunnels was my favorite! It was also a treat to have the cormorins swimming under and around the boat as you paddled along.

Our family went on a tour with Tom in South Lido. He led us through the mangroves and around small islands where we saw manatees, dolphins, rays, and tons of birds. Tom talked about each animal we saw and even gave us some history on the area. The entire trip was fun and we learned so much. As avid kayakers, we will definitely be back for more tours with Sea Life Kayak Adventures!

We went on a Sea Life Kayak Tour on Friday, Sept 7th with Tom as our tour guide. Having not done a kayak tour before I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth the $44 a person but it was GREAT! The water was fairly calm and the weather was ideal.

My wife had never been in a kayak before and is not an active person so I was a little concerned she would really have a hard time but Tom assured us she could do it. He had recently had a lady in her 80's do it on her own.

There was one other couple on the tour with us so it was a very small group, Tom had told us when he worked as a tour guide for a different company he once a group of 40+ kayakers and spent his time just trying to keep the group together.

We started out in about a foot of water just learning how to maneuver the kayaks. It took a few minutes for my wife to get the hang of it but she soon caught on.

The tour itself lasted about 2 1/2 hours which was just enough. Tom took a lot of time stopping in different areas to tell us about the wildlife and history of the area. We saw several really exciting things, first the cormorants. The cormorants are birds that look like skinny ducks that swim down and catch fish. The ones in LIdo Key have figured out that if they swim under your kayak your paddle will kick the fish out of the grass so they can catch them very easily. It was fun to have them beside and under our kayaks and see them pop up every few minutes with a fish in their mouth. They even jumped up on to our kayaks and hung out there while we paddled along. Pretty cool.

We paddled over to an area of large homes and saw something Tom had never seen before. A bull nosed sting ray started jumping straight up out of the water about 4 feet. This went on for about 15 jumps with breaks about every 5 jumps. Pretty fun to watch and Tom was ecstatic having never seen that before

We then paddled over to another area and found a mother manatee and her baby swimming under our kayaks. There are huge and it was fun to watch them as they went under each kayak.

Paddling a little more we saw a mother dolphin with a baby teaching it how to catch fish. They would get up close to the sea wall and smack their tails to stun some bigger fish. They were a round for about 15 minutes. They was really exciting to watch.

Tom stopped a lot to show us sea urchins and other marine life before heading off to the mango groves where we paddled through tunnels before heading back to the launch area

Overall, I would say this was a great tour with just enough physical exercise and a great way yo see Florida wildlife. I would highly recommend Tom and his company. In fact, when we visit again in October we plan on doing it again.
