We always buy season tickets to both plays and caberet productions. Most plays are modern works. The current musical, "Smokey Joe' s Cafe" cannnot be topped on Broadway. High energy singing, dancing with significant amounts of expressive acting combine to maye the show tops. We are delighted to have the opportunity to see these works. IF one buys season tickets, ticket dates can be changed at NO charge provided change occurs at least 48 hours in advance. There was only one show that we personally did not enjoy, although it was well acted. The play portrayed two male partners, one of whom is dying. Although the angst and conflict associated with this tragic event was evident, we felt that it still contained too much vulgarity and too blatent a disrespect of religion, ie, using Bible pages as toilet tissue. Other than this one play in three years, we have never been offended. Other plays can be very sad; however, we wanted a current theatrical experience. Having just seen Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson in San Francisco, we hope FST chooses to produce it in Sarasota.

I am a child of the 60's, but the play with its powerful choreography and music of the fifties had the entire audience rocking! Don't miss it.

What a fun evening! It was a feel good night with some very talented young men singing 50's & 60's music. Hip swinging, clapping , laughing & even singing along fun . Although we seemed to be among the youngest there (40's) I truly believe our kiddos would love this show (Teens-20's). It's a very small theater which seems to sell out quickly at least the prime seats so once we were educated by some of the locals that have season passes ( this is the way to go $$ and for seat choice) we signed up for two more shows at half the price for our one time show, success!!! You can go an hour before the show for dinner if you choose which we might do next time. I'll let you know my thoughts on the food when I partake ;-)

The first musical of the season, "The Wanderers," was totally terrific! Very professional, as are all of their presentations. The ticket prices are very modest, and if you choose to eat at the cabaret theatre during the one hour before the musical begins, you will find that the food prices are reasonable and the food is satisfying.

Florida Studio Theatre has consistently good perrformances and amazingly low prices. That explains why it is always full to capacity. The current performance of Smokey Joe's Cafe (the 1st of 4 shows for the fall/winter season) provides a rousing, amazing, and fun evening. I find that most of FST's shows make me want to go back and see them again. If you are in the Sarasota area and can get tickets to an FST Main Stage performance, don't miss it.
