“Friendly staff and good pizza”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

If you are staying in the Gulf Gate area, this would be the place to go for pizza. Sal is a terrific guy, very personable and makes you feel quite welcome.
As New Yorkers, we are jaded by the best pizza in the world but the pizza here is good.
The place is kind of quaint with nice paintings on the walls.
We would visit again.

“OMG--surprisingly great pizza!”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

We recently stayed on Siesta Key for our 33rd anniversary, kids coming and going throughout the week, and you know you can't go a week without a good pizza! Seeing that Sal's got very good reviews, we decided we would go there, check out the vibe and order to go if things looked OK. It is a very small (tiny!) establishment in an area that has many restaurant choices in strip centers. Mind you, it doesn't look like much from the outside, or really from the inside, but the wonderful scents that greet you when you enter are enough to convince you that this place makes great pizza. Many locals came and went while we were sitting at one of the few tables having a glass of wine--I like to see that locals frequent any place I visit--and it was obvious that these were "regulars." There are two tv's if you want to watch sports while sipping a beer or glass of wine. Diner-type tables and seating.

We are pizza snobs, to be frank. I make pizza at home and strive to duplicate the wonderful pizza we get in Italy. We ordered an extra-large; it was huge, but we ate it all! The crust is thin, crispy, chewy and bubbly, just like we like it, very flavorful. Toppings are fresh and high quality. Prices are very, very reasonable. We loved it so much that we scrapped our plans for a fancy dinner on our anniversary and ordered delivery from Sal's! I highly recommend it!

“Best local pizza spot and so much more”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

I have eaten at Sal's over the last few years and have never been disappointed. The pizzas are very fresh and delicious. The salads are incredible-very large with wonderful ingredients.Huge soda's and wine and beer.Have had the ravioli's and they were wonderful as well.Like any restaurant they can have an off night or perhaps get an order wrong but I have never been treated poorly when brought to their attention,I am somewhat surprised by the review of one trip advisor member calling them rude etc..perhaps there were things going on that you were not aware of and artichokes and anchovies do sound somewhat alike and certainly could have been added or ordered by mistake.I think it is a shame the restaurant was given such a poor ranking-despite the mix up.I will only go to Sals and have referred dozens of happy pizza eaters and will continue to do so in the future. If you want rude and arrogant go to Goodfellows on Clark rd.

“Good Pizza, Pie or slice”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

I travel to Sarasota several times a year and have been looking for a good pizza place - Sal's is good. I haven't tried their pasta yet, and I would recommend takeout, as the place is really small, and not much atmosphere. Looking forward to my next trip back in the fall to try more of their selection.

“Best pizza we've had while in Sarasota”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Got a pizza and Greek salad from Sal's while on vacation in Siesta Key. We e been to the area several times and had lots of different pizza. Sal's was some of the best we've had, and the pizza and salad were huge! The place is just an average pizza joint, but the food was good and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely come back again.
