Indigenous runs like a well-oiled machine. The service is excellent, and the food is too. Perhaps they get it right because they don't try to do too much. For example, the menu has meat, fish, and a vegetarian option, but nary a steak or a chicken to be found.
Many readers have commented on the mushroom bisque and short ribs. Both dishes, in our estimation, were terrific. But oh those beignets! Clouds of flaky pastry with parmesan inside, nestled on a bed of minced pears with a hint of thyme. Just when we thought NOLA had beignets sewn up, along came Indigenous with a new rendition that blew us away.
In short, this restaurant is reliable for very good food and excellent service. Dinner for two (with two drinks, plus tax and tip) was around $100.
