“Huge park with lots to do. Bedding in Park Model and Pool Bar sucked”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

We own a travel trailer but decided to do the "Vacation REntal" at Sun N Fun with my wife's parents. The rentals are park models that vary in size and age. We went with a gold model as all the platinums were taken. IT was a good size and the huge enclosed lanai was great. The Air Conditioning was oversized for the unit wich helped alot in the summer heat. Parking is a little rough if you have more than one vehicle.

The beds in our park model were AWFULL. Not only were they very uncomfortable but the box springs creaked as loud as can be with every movement. I am seriously not exagerating with that. It's awfull. It was to the point where we dreaded the end of the day because we knew what was waiting for us on the bed.

The Park itself is huge with alot to see. Even though we went in the off season, there were still activites for the kids. There is a large pond / small lake that is stocked for fishing. The pool area is very large. The kids liked the slide and the obstacle course set up in the indoor pool. Those do cost extra however.

The pool bar: Someone on another review stated that the pool badr was a full bar. At least when we went, this was very far from the truth. They had bottle beer, a very small draft beer station and some mixed drinks. The mixed drinks were mostly pre-made and came out of coolers. There were a couple daquaris (sp) that came out of slushie machines. The drinks are over priced and contain hardly any alchohol. The margaritas come out of a cooler and are only on the rocks. They charge the kids the same price for a virgin drink as they do the adults for the alchoholic version. I guess that kinda makes sense because they cheap out big time on the alchohol portions.

They don't allow you to bring any of your own drinks into the pool area and I can see why. We had to bring tequilla in in a water bottle and add it to the drinks we bought there. It's not like we were there to get drunk but the cheap cost cutting drinks didn't reflect too well on the establishment in my eyes. PLenty of places can make the mixed drinks right and still return a profit. I would advise just getting beer from that bar.

Room Tip: Bring your own bed topper

This is our favorite camping spot so far for lots of reasons - lots of activities if that is what your up for and we were when we stayed on July 4th Week.
The RV grounds: We stayed in a 30FT RV and it was spacious enough. This place is huge - lots of different areas. But if you want to be close to the pool, try to get into the QUEENS section, or the KINGS section. They also have different tent sections too. Everything was clean and well maintained. If you don't stay in QUEENS or KINGS section, it is a healthy walk to the pool.

The POOL: OMG... two big hot tubs, one for family's' (not as hot) and one for adults only. Then they have a huge - huge pool and large step area for the little kids, but plenty of chairs and room for familys and adults without kids. They also have a section for the Splash Pool for the real little ones which is a great area with it's own chairs & shade. The playground is also at the pool area. It is truly a resort - and they have DIVE IN Movies which are usually G or PG rated one night a week in the pool which you can watch the screen from anywhere.

At the pool area is a full bar, lots of table and chairs where you can order various types of snack bar/cafe foods like burgers, dogs, sandwiches, ice cream, nuggets, pizza, etc.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: We went on their weekly hay rides which takes you all over the park on a few trams pulled by a golf cart and it was fun and we were also able to see other areas of this HUGE RV park, like the butterfly gardens, the billiards building, freebee park, fishing pier (didn't look like too many were fishing there), bike paths, mini golf, a huge "jump pillow" that every kid of any age will love, and they have so much other stuff I can't go on.

Also they have a huge indoor pool, an updated hi-tech work out gym (2 actually), and this HUGE water slide for the kids that they can buy a day pass for $5 & $10 and they will live on that FUN thing.

The Staff was friendly and planned lots of activities as they have a theme weekends every week from our understanding. We had sac races. water balloon fights, hay rides, there was a hot dog eating contest... this place is all about the FUN and they don't just say it, they do it. GREAT FAMILY campground.

Also every store like Target and Publix Supermarket is just a couple miles down the road.

We will go back & you could go in the heat of the summer as it's all about the water and the pools.I believe the pools are heated in the winter too. We met a few families and the kids love it here and now we know why :O)

Room Tip: Ask for a "shade" spot if it's in the summer months.

We stayed there several times and for the most part enjoyed it very much. However this last Memorial Day weekend was the pits. Must of had a influx of drunk rednecks in the Sarasota area. Had trouble sleeping when they continued to hoop and holler till 4 AM. Several calls to security were to no avail. Never going there again.

Stayed in our RV and the sites had lots of room. Some areas had rowdy guests but great fun for the little one's with lots of activities for them. I suggest bringing your golf cart/club car or renting one from them.

Our second year staying here during State rowing competition. Overall we really like the park model and the facilities. It's not the Four Seasons but we prefer the convenience of a full kitchen and swimming pool, etc. bedding could use some updating. Staff members are nice. Poolside food reasonably priced BUT the fees for upgrades at the pool are ridiculous. $11 per kid for a water slide? Overall we recommend and enjoy Sun N Fun

This is a large resort a lot of permanent site and nice facilities. A lot of retirees and snow birds. We enjoy it because it is close to the interstate and very secure. The sites are large and the pools are wonderful

Visited Sun n Fun at the request of friends, who winter here a couple months a year. From local airports, it's an easy drive right down I-75, close to Exit 210. We rented an onsite home, since it was marginally less expensive than local hotels. We were unimpressed with our property. It was well located, in a quieter area, but a bit on the rundown side, especially for a premium unit.

Let me say, there is plenty to do as far as activities, crafts, games, etc. If you like that type of thing. They have a state-of-the-art fitness center and indoor lap pool. The outdoor pool is large and warm. It was very clean, as were the outdoor whirlpools and hot tubs. Many residents walk, bicycle and golfcart around. It's pet friendly, many dogs and some cats, too!

There's a restaurant on site, with full bar. Was unimpressed with the drinks, not much selection, and made very weak. Only ate there once.

Guest population is about 90% retirees and 10% families with kids. I'm sure this ratio changes once school lets out. Guests are from all over the US and Canada. Quite honestly, we felt "too young" and kind of out of our element...probably will not return. Highly recommend for senior citizens.
