“Hidden Gem of an Oyster Bar”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

Big upside - the oysters. Fresh, large oysters are the main fare and compare favorably with the best in town. Big downside - stale smokey atmosphere in this bar where smoking is allowed. The service is prompt and friendly, and the draft beer selections are good. Go for the oysters, not the romance.

“Oysters, Oysters, and more Oysters.”

Terrific oysters and interesting patrons. What more could you want? Maybe beer and they have lots of it.

“Its a Bar not a restaurant!!!”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

I usually rely on Trip advisor, but they REALLY got this one wrong!!! This "joint" is a bar NOT a restaurant. Yes, the oysters are OK, but for $16, they should be.(all they are is steamed with butter & parmesan cheese) If you like dining in a bar, with the guy next doors smoke wafting in your face, eating on beer trays& paper plates w/plasticware & drinks in plastic cups, juke box blaring & people playing pool, then you found your place!! Dont get how this is called a restaurant, as they dont have a kitchen!! There "kitchen" is a steamer & a pot of butter, and a ice table for there mussels, & oysters. No sides, no bread/rolls, no vegs, what a joke!! Nice little BAR, but a TERRIBLE restaurant!!

“Excellent food, nice, small menu and a great environment to relax in”
Reviewed February 10, 2012

This place has all the makings of a great, townie bar up north, with one notable exception: great seafood. There are no paper menus, you get to choose from the daily specials on the board, including mussels, oysters (raw, steamed or monkfella, which are highly recommended and delicious, even for non seafood lovers), crab legs, shrimp, crawfish. We had mussels and monkfellas and a loaf of bread (which we bought at panificio, upon the waiter's recommendation) and it was delicious. If you are looking for great seafood, acceptable prices and a great, relaxing experience of being in a bar, this is your place. Highly recommended. One note: it IS smoking, so if you are not comfortable with that, don't go. With all the doors open, there is ample ventilation and we were not gassed out by any means. Great staff as well. Will make a return visit, sooner rather than later.
