Stayed here for 2 nights and can highly recommend .Its a high class hotel but its also very warm and welcoming. The beach club is a bonus with excellant shuttle service.
The blue dolphin in St Armands circle does a brilliant breakfast!
Cant wait to go again.

We spent four days at the hotel as part of a meeting. The staff was uniformly pleasant. The rooms were well maintained, as always. We had two dinners at the hotel and both were great. The only drawbacks are the distance to the beach and to the golf course. Both facilites are very nice, but not nearby.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

Overall, the Ritz was a very nice hotel and the service was good, as expected. My biggest disappointment was the location. It is not on the beach and you have to literally take a tram over to get to the beach a few minutes away. If you are going for an expensive hotel to be pampered, go here. If you want to enjoy more of what Florida has to offer, there are so many other beautiful places on the water that you could stay.

This Ritz is an excellent hotel. It's location in sarasota makes it a perfect spot to base your activities. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and you are left with the impression that your business is appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable. Shuttle service to the beach was timely.

Room Tip: We had a view facing north and you can see the intercostal from the balcony. Rooms are available fac...

Positives = (a) The Beach Club. Classy service. Nice Beach. Probably the primary (and only) reason to justify the per night cost of the hotel. (b) Location. Centrally located to St. Armand's Circle, the historic downtown district and attactions such as the Mote Aquarium. (c) Bathrooms. Appeared to have been renovated recently and were white and grey marble - lovely and luxurious.
Negatives = (a) Cost = $$$$. We requested a one bedroom suite with ocean view. We got instead a fourth four room with a view of a roof and partial view of the ocean (b) The facilities are a bit tired and drabby and not in a charming way. They need an upgrade. Seems to be a lack of attention to small details. For example, why is there is an empty bubble gum machine located randomly in the hallway? The extra blanket in our suite was a dirty, old yellow blanket stuffed into a plastic zip-up bag. (d) Not sure what is going on with customer service. During my very brief stay there, there were least three occasions when there were customers at the front desk demanding to speak to a manager. In summary, beach club = wonderful. Hotel facilities need work. Sarasota itself is very fun, so check it out although I don't think I'd recommend staying at the Ritz for the price.

My wife and I stayed at the Ritz for 5 nights this past week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Service was fantastic and the facilities were what would be expected in a five diamond hotel.

Highlights of our stay included visiting the farmers market a few blocks away, a fun Friday night dinner with fellow soccer parent friends at Shore in St. Armands and walking over to Marina Jack's for breakfast where we also enjoyed a brief stroll around the park and boat watching. Had a very nice dinner at Selva's which was a few short blocks away and would go back again. Found a nice breakfast place in St Armand's called The Blue Dolphin which we took a half hr walk to one morning. Sunday evening we hit the Ritz beach club for the rotisserie chicken dinner. Sides included corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and cole slaw among others. Fantastic and very filling. My wife says the chocolate desert was particularly yummy. We had another great dinner at CdZ in the the hotel. Despite a cool (75 degree) rainy evening the staff set us up with a table on the terrace overlooking the harbour...very nice. Once again the service was excellent and we appreciated the frank suggestions of our server (he was also the bartender I believe) and have to say I loved my wedge salad, rib steak and creamed spinach. Washed it all down with a nice California pinot noir. Life is good!

Would prefer if wi-fi was included as it was a pain to track the password and keep registering every day. Found it a bit ironic that they were overselling the personal service but ticking off guests with the inconvenience of their wi-fi service. Wi-fi really should be included at this level of hotel. Otherwise had a great stay at the Ritz.

The Starbucks served just off the lobby was convenient but we generally preferred to walk the 2 minutes over to the larger store downtown.

This is a wonderful property that we have been to literally numerous times. It is a fabulous value if you can call Luxury of this caliber a value. The perfect getaway. The Ritz is actually two properties, the main hotel on the intercoastal, and the beach club on a barrier island. A great shuttle takes you between the two at the "top of the hour, and back at the bottom of the hour." A typical day for us in Sarasota is: Waking up in our beautiful room, Breakfast at the hotel, picking up the shuttle to the beach club on the 10 AM shuttle, changing to our swin suits in the beautiful locker facilities in the member's club, heading down to the beach and having the staff set up an umbrella and lounge chairs for us by the beach, alternating between Mai Tai's and Iced Tea through the day. We usually have lunch at the restaurant that is part of the Beach Club. There is also a bar by the Beach which is great for late afternoon cocktails waiting for the "green flash" that may be more myth than truth. (It's fun trying to see it though!) At some time during the day we go to St Armands Circle which has endless shops, restaurants, a bar, Starbucks, nail salons, Cigar Shop, Famous Ice Cream, etc. (Try the Macaroons at the french Macaroon place.) The shuttle runs you through St. Armand's both coming and going from the hotel. We rarely rent a car, they do everything you need at the Hotel and then you can supplement that with St. Armand's.

Room Tip: We always go for the city view - never been sorry about it.
