Owner description: Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

“Interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013 via mobile

We were surprised that this place had so many animals to see. The cats are beautiful
and appear to be well taken care of. There is a show in the area a that is really amazing. It is hard to believe that so many of these animals had been purchased as exotic pets! They are huge! I would not want to get in a cage with them for sure. Ideally, it would be nice to see them all in the wild, however, most have been raised in captivity and they would never have a chance to survive that way. It is also of concern that so many of these creatures are endangered and if nothing is done to protect them in the wild, there is a chance of them becoming extinct. This is a nice way to spend the afternoon in the Sarasota area.

“Big Cat Habitat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

How wonderful to have these beautiful, wild animals so close to home. Very clean and well cared for, these animals seem to be at home in their environment. As you turn into the facility you can't miss the camels, ponys, donkey, zebra all co-mingled and playing in the pasture. A huge buffalo is all to your left. As you park the car you notice a magnificant tiger enjoying the sun on his face and not a worry in the world. This is a great family oriented outing, sights to see for all ages. Highly recommend the Big Cat Habitat as top on the list of stops to make when visiting Sarasota, Florida.

“Big Cats up Close”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

I've never been closer to a big cat than I was here. Their show is educational and interesting. The grand kids LOVED it! Entrance fee also goes entirely to the park upkeep. Well worth your time and money while in Sarasota.

“Not My Favorite Day”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

So the idea is nice: save the big cats and keep them on land in Florida. Unfortunately some of them seemed disgruntled and some of the pens were extremely smelly (and it's hot). The woman who brings goats was yelling at all of the children and her goats kept escaping. Not a must do.. definitely choose the Aquarium if you have to choose.

“I'm glad I took this event in!”

Wow, what can I say? I didn't expect what I got! These big cats were all that and more! Beautiful, exotic, interactive and huge! I have so much more appreciation for our vanishing wild life. The lion is so magnificent! All the big cats were impressively beautiful! Don't miss this one. Also very educational!
