You know the fish is fresh from the crowds that frequent the place, the only problem is some of the staff seem over tired and have developed an "I don't care attitude" They forget they are in the service industry and judging from the comments other people have noticed it also. Since this was one of our favourite places we will give it another chance but will ask around about another good fish restaurant.

We were in Sarasota for fa few spring training games. Asked front desk at the University Park Hampton Inn for a Saturday night restaurant suggestion and they suggested the Lucky Pelican. We had a wonderful meal there.. I had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer with crab roumelade sauce..it was wonderful. Then panko crusted haddock with bistro potatoes and broccoli rabe. Husband had some sort of salmon that he also loved. Staff was accommodating and really nice. It's a very busy place..there were a number of families with small kids, and a high noise level, but didn't bother us. Would return.

The Lucky Pelican has a wide selection of fish and seafood dishes. From oysters on the half shell to a fantastic broiled salmon, you will not find a better offering. The chef is excellent. New items everyday make eating there a delight. The waitstaff are efficient and friendly. We are there at least once a week.

After about a 45 minute wait we were seated,it was happy hour until 6:30 pm,so that was ok.my entree was blackened Mahi with a sauce on the side, terrific. The service was a little slow because the place was packed on. Tuesday night. The other fish entrees were also raved about by our friends.Go early or late they are busy.!! Great food!!!
