“Great old-fashioned ice cream and homemade waffle cones”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

I think we went to Kilwin's about 4 times during the course of one week's vacation in Florida (two locations, too!). They have great old-fashioned ice cream and they even make their own waffle cones, which smelled heavenly. We also saw them making some fudge that looked great, but we didn't get a chance to try it (we were too busy stuffing our faces with ice cream!).

We visited the locations in Venice and in St. Armands Circle and both have ample seating and clean bathrooms, so that is always helpful on vacation with kids!

“Ice cream is good but $$$”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

I suppose Kilwin's has to charge a hefty price for their ice cream because of their location on St. Armand's Circle, but it isn't any better than the Ben and Jerry's and Big Olaf's also located on the circle. The lines can be ridiculously long during "season," but they do move rather quickly. The problem when it is very busy is that you cannot see what all of the ice cream looks like, but they do give samples (which then holds the line up even longer when you cannot decide - ha!). My one scoop (large) waffle cone was $7.00.

“Good ice cream, but overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Seemingly near every upscale tourist destination, Kilwins serves up pretty decent ice cream and good fudge. It is, however, expensive. Kilwins is always very busy, but they move the line right along. They really soak those families who get the kids double scoops at $6 per kid!

“Go for the Fudge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

It takes a lot of will power to walk by Kilwin's without stopping in. The candy and fudge are made onsite in full view of the window. There is a wide range of choices but the double dark chocolate is amazing and hard to resist.

“A must for any trip to the area...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

Kilwins is always on our list when we visit Sarasota. It's right in St. Armands Circle, an area full of shops and restaurants. As you get close to Kilwins, you will smell the most amazing scent...fresh waffle cones, candy and fudge being made. Yes, it's a dirty little trick, but once you smell it in the air you simply must go inside. The kids love to watch the fudge and peanut brittle being made fresh, everyday. The homemade ice cream is the highlight though. My favorite is Salted Carmel, but you will not have a problem finding your favorite flavor, there are at least 30 to choose from. Enjoy!
