Owner description: The excitement is palpable during the Sarasota Opera season. As you arrive at your seats, you'll see the familiar faces of opera lovers just like you, and also meet new people. Our intimate 1119-seat theater—with the perfect acoustics for live opera—gives a sense of intimacy to our performances while enhancing your overall experience. Now in its 59th Season, Sarasota Opera is the only opera company in the world to have performed all of Verdi's works. People from all corners of the world come to see our world-class productions, which range from early Italian Bel Canto to contemporary American opera. This Winter, we are bringing to you Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, Bizet’s Carmen, Bellini’s Norma, and d’Albert’s Tiefland. All performances have simultaneous English translations above the stage and opera goers are encouraged to dress as they feel comfortable: suits and ties mix with khaki and jeans. Tickets start at only $19!! Come and experience the magic that is Sarasota Opera!

In their own intimate theatre, the Sarasota Opera put on 4-5 productions each winter, and the standard is very high. Even my wife (no opera fan) looks forward to it.

We have been patrons of Sarasota Opera since we moved here in 1994. Have never missed a performance in 20 years. Every performance is a high quality experience. There are just a few operas that I may not have enjoyed because of the inane story line or cumbersome length of the production but the individual performances even in those instances were excellent.

The theater itself has excellent acoustics and there really are no bad seats from which to see the entire stage. Back in 1994, we sat in the upper balcony but have moved closer to center stage which does enhance the enjoyment factor considerably. Seat prices have increased significantly since the renovation of a few years ago these days but well worth it if you enjoy excellent opera productions.

I go to the opera every year because it's such an incredible experience. The singing, acting, and costumes are fabulous. If cost is not a concern and you enjoy music, don't miss the Sarasota opera!

This small opera house has been turning out quality opera for years and it seems to get better every year. The productions are classical & no details seem to be overlooked. This is a very special part of Sarasota and it should not be missed if visiting or living there.

Sarasota Opera is superb! Make sure you get to at least one performance while visiting Sarasota during the winter season.
