We had balcony seats and you felt very close to the stage. The variety of shows was abundant, we could have seen 4 shows in about a week.

“Up and coming”

The Verdi series was celebrated, Il Trovatore and Jerusalem. They need to get more romantic, believable heroines in Il Trovatore, but Jerusalem was outstanding. The leads in Jerusalem were amazing actors as well as singers. We have been to over 39 operas, including the Met, and felt Sarasota's Jerusalem was right up there.

“Opera, really!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2014

My wife and I attended our first opera last Friday. We saw the barber of Seville and I must say we were pleasantly surprised. When I entered the theater I heard someone say the performance was 3hr. And 20min. I thought OMG I'm going to die. Instead I enjoyed the entire production. The performers were super, the music was excellent and the venue very nice. Something I need to mention is that the opera while sung in Italian has English subtitles above the stage. This goes down as one of the Highlights of our winter in Bradenton, Florida. Prices start at about $45.

“Gives the Met real competition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Sarasota can be justly proud of its own Opera and Opera company. The anual season fills most of the winter and offers major works with a lesser known Verdi opera as a bonus. Comfortable with great acoustics, the Opera House is a jewel.
