Excellent production of Il Trovatore. Good acoustics and sight lines. Very good staging for such a small theater

A young cast gave it added life and the orchestra was at its best. The lead tenor was full value for the role.

Last night we saw The Barber of Seville and what a wonderful treat. The cast was top notch, the production was fun and the theater provides an intimate experience with the audience. That Sarasota can provide such a top professional opera company is truly a marvel and the community should be applauded for it. The opera house was renovated a while back to the period in which it was built and I loved the non-glitzy setting but it was not staid either.

We recently enjoyed "The Barber of Seville" at the Sarasota Opera House. Our tickets were being held at will call which was easy to find and get our tickets. The theater is small (about 1200 seats) but is acoustically great and is much better than our larger theater up north. The sound quality and lighting was fabulous and the singing and acting was second to none. This was our third time (two up north prior to this show) and this was by far the best of the three. The only down fall was it seemed a little long at nearly 3 1/2 hours. Other than that it was great and we will be going again.

Charming provincial ( in the best sense) opera.
There is lot's to be said for smaller theaters. Intimate atmosphere adds something to the music. Great show of enthusiasm from artists and audience alike.
As a bonus, they don't show you "Malevich Square" and tell you this is castle in Normandy, which is quite refreshing nowadays. Some voices are questionable, but isn't it allways the case anywhere?
We enjoyed it and will return

Thank Pestr
