“A must if you are on the West Coast of Florida”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

This is definitely a must see when you are near Sarasota, Florida. The Model of the ringing circus is astounding. It took Mr. Ti blue 50 Years working by himself to create this master piece. If you are familiar with the circus when they came to town on railroad cars, and set up the Big Top, it will bring back some great memories. Than there is the art that John Ringling accumulated throughout his lifetime. It is a good as many museums in the country. The staff is very friendly and happy to point out any highlights that you may have missed. All in all, a great visit.

“The Ringling Museum & Art Gallery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

This is a "must see" in beautiful Sarasota. Displays are carefully crafted, well developed and often given context by the citing of other world events in that period. Ca d'Zan is the jewel in the crown so be sure to sign up for the extra tour to see it all, then take in the fabulous view from the front patio. The art gallery is so spectacular you will likely need a whole day to view the collection! Docents are incredibly knowledgeable and all staff have been very pleasant through our many visits! You will come out with a much better understanding of the area and Amercan history of the period. So fascinating!

“Immerse yourself in another time”

I love the Ringling - from it's sweeping entry to carefully tended grounds, from the circus museum to the fine art collections this place is amazing. I know, you're thinking "I'm going to Florida to see a museum???" No, you're going to have an experience that will captivate. You can spend hours wandering the grounds - shady walks open to a stunning rose garden, walk around them and then take a break on one of the many benches and just enjoy the day. Wander down to the water and there sits the home of John and Mable Ringling. Take the tour, there are some pretty interesting stories (ask about the partially finished ceiling). The grounds are full of statutes and décor - roam about the terraced center court where weddings and special events are held. Stop at the restaurant for a snack or lunch. The circus museum is amazing - the massive model of a town with the circus is mind boggling. Circus history with insights into the business of a circus, the people who worked them and artwork is very amazing. After you've spent hours on the grounds and various buildings - go inside the museum. The building itself is impressive on a stand alone basis. The art? The art spans hundreds of years - the Dutch Masters of the 1600's up to and including current art. One of my favorite pieces resides here and I could drink it in for hours at a time. Cultural? Sure. Boring? Not hardly. Don't save this for one of those "I have nothing better to do" days -- Enjoy it on one of those beautiful days and get the entire experience.

“Another must see in Sarasota ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014 via mobile

We had a few hours before our flight out of Florida so we thought we could kill some time at the Ringling. Our mistake. These beautiful grounds are full of interesting things to see. The miniature circus is amazing and I am not a circus person. The house on the water and gardens are beautiful. The art work in the museum is outstanding. We will plan a whole day on our next trip. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Great experience.

“A special treasurer - A must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

The Ringling is an all day event. There are four buildings to see so go early at 10 am. After paying your entry fee, take the free tram to the mansion and do the self tour there. Sit on the terrace and enjoy the view. Then walk to the circus museum and see the custom train car built for John Ringling, the circus wagons, costumes, and the movie, Greatest Show on Earth. Then have lunch at the Treviso restaurant or the snack bar. After lunch visit the Tibbels Learning Center, both first (the model circus) and second floors before heading over to the Art Museum. There are traveling exhibits in the Searing Wing that are unique and interesting along with the classic paintings that Mr. Ringling collected in the 1920s. You can also take a drive through the campus of New College just north of the Ringling. The main building was the home of Charles Ringling.
