Party like a Spring Breaker????
We booked this hotel online through Booking.com, for two nights, May 26th and 27th. We arrived around noon and went out to the marina which the hotel overlooks, since our room would not be ready until 3p.m.
A group of guests had put up a large awning tent just outside their rooms, on hotel property. There were over a dozen people sitting and drinking in and around the tent. It seemed odd that the hotel would allow this. After viewing what seemed to be a very clean room, we checked in around 3:00. We went out to take advantage of some area attractions and we returned at 8:30 p.m. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the marina and the tent area. The group was a bit louder than they had been earlier, but we assumed that the hotel would control the situation and all would be quiet by 10:30 or so. Were we wrong!!
Even being in our room with the door closed and the air conditioner on high, it was impossible to sleep due to all the noise and partying going on. At 11:45p.m. We called the main desk and the desk person was obviously irritated that we were complaining. He said he would “look into it”. By 12:30 it was so loud that I called the desk again and got no answer. We then called another hotel down the road and were able to book a king suite for the following night. Around 1:30 we heard a person shout “quiet down” and awhile later another person yelled “go to bed”. We finally fell asleep but were awakened at 4:11a.m. by people yelling and screaming. When I looked out the window two girls were wrestling on the lawn and imitating sex acts with each other. Other females were running around the lawn yelling and carrying beer cans. I called the desk again and he said he would tell them to “be quiet”. REALLY? Just be QUIET? The group finally went to their rooms around 5:00a.m. Needless to say, we got almost no sleep. I went downstairs and took some photos of the area. Photos attached if possible on this site.
We immediately checked out in the morning. When we were waiting to check out, the manager at the desk was telling another guest that the night person must have called her what she said “seemed over 30 times” during the night regarding what was going on. She said she wasn’t working and didn’t know why she was being bothered. She also told us later, that she had stayed in the room next to ours. SHE IS on MANAGEMENT STAFF! Why didn’t she do something! When we got to the desk I started complaining to the desk person about what went on the night before and at that time another woman and older man walked out of the office. I told them that I had never seen a hotel allow a guest to put up a private tent on hotel property and that the liability issue alone should have scared them to death, as well as all the stuff piled on the walkway. They just looked at me, no response! I then asked why nothing had been done to stop them from partying all night. No response! I told them that after two warnings, the sheriff’s dept. should have been called. The woman from the office then said “we don’t do anything like that unless it gets real noisy. It depends how loud it is after 11:00 pm.!” WHAT? REALLY? The desk person then responded” they should have been called”. BINGO! Right answer! I then told them about the wrestling, sex act imitations and running around yelling at 4a.m. and the office woman’s reply to the manager was “sounds like us at river fest last year hahahahahaha”! WHAT? I was dumb founded at that point and realized that continuing to talk with these “Einstein’s” was fruitless.
They never apologized or said they were sorry, absolutely NOTHING! UNBELIEVABLE! We were also charged the full price for the night. Bottom line, if you want to party like a spring breaker with little regard for your wellbeing by staff and management, stay here, OTHERWISE stay FAR AWAY from this place.
