My husband and I have been staying here for years. The Coastal Conservation Association used to have their Annual Spring Tournament here when it was the Sarasota Cay. We always stay in a suite on the waterfront as we usually bring our boat and keep it there. It is a lot of fun to take the boat to go fishing or go across Sarasota Bay for a meal. We actually live in Sarasota but use this hotel as getaway. The last time we were there we had the pleasure of meeting Olivia at the front desk. She is a great asset to your hotel. The Tiki bar is a lot of fun and the food is good.
Our room has always been clean so overall, we really enjoy our stays there.

Room Tip: Waterfront suites are the best. The view is great and you canhear the music from the Tiki bar. Just make sure you bring your own chair if you want to sit outside of your room. I don't know if all of the rooms have been updated, so I csn only comment on the King suites.

My wife and I stayed at the Ramada Sarasota in June 2012. We stayed there for one night. A few things to think about are:
- I would not pay more than $49 a night at this hotel.
- If you only planning to use the room to sleep and spend most of the time at the beach, the hotel is ok.
- Breakfast is very limited but enough to hold you until lunch
- If you stay in a room facing the main street take some earplugs, because it gets very noisy with cars, people, police and ambulances driving by.
- You are not far from very nice beaches in the area.
- At night the bar at the bar of the hotel is good for a drink while kids can be at the pool.

Room Tip: Make sure you pick a room that faces the marina

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your stay. I apologize that you did not seem to enjoy your stay with us. What specifically could we have done better to improve your experience? If road noise is disturbing a guest, our staff is more than willing to check on switching the room to something that will work better for that guest. I'm sorry to hear our complimentary breakfast was not up to your standards. What would you have preferred to see included in it? We appreciate and welcome your feedback because we can only improve by receiving feedback such as yours. We look forward to having as our guest again in the future!

Sincerely,
General Manager

When we first pulled up I was a little surprised at the appearance of the building and the surrounding area. It's kinda just there! I will say that I'm a little OCD when it comes to hotels and their cleanliness. I always bring my own Lysol wipes and spray to disinfect the room before we settle it. Honestly, there was not 1 spot of dirt anywhere in the room! This made me happy! The bathroom and plumbing is sort of old, but it still did the job. Now, if your goal is to tour Sarasota you may want to choose a hotel further south on Tamiami Trail (41) more near downtown because the hotel is not really that close to any shops, restaurants or things to do. Our personal goal was to check out the beaches/keys in the surrounding area so this was PERFECT! We were literally smack dab in the middle of everything we wanted to see. 25 minutes to the north is Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island, 15 south is Lido Key, 25 minutes south is Siesta Key and downtown Sarasota is only about 10 minutes away. I know a lot of you on here are fussy about noises so here it goes: you hear alot of airplane traffic flying overhead and the plumbing (coming from other rooms) could be heard from our room from time to time. The pool was pretty and lounge chairs and tables to hang out around. The Bearded Clam restaurant and Tiki Bar are right on property so you can just walk down for lunch or dinner (11am-10pm for food I think) and fun drinks and music til 2am! We saw a waitress bringing beers to ladies in the pool, although I don't know if that's the norm. Free continental breakfast has slices of breads, mini bagels, donuts, instant oatmeal, cereal, milk, juices, some prepackaged danishes and of course the famous do it yourself waffle maker. Although it was not extensive, it was so nice to save $20 a day (for 2) and not have to pay for breakfast. It held us over until we were up and moving for the day and ready to try a new spot for lunch.

Room Tip: Waterfront rooms are available, but are nothing spectacular. You can pretty much have boats in view. If its the same price, its always nicer than looking at the parking lot (unless you want to be close to your car).

Just spent 3 days here and had a wonderful time, Olivia on the front desk really looked after us and made us feel very welcome. We were upgraded to a waterfront suite overlooking the marina and would recommend one of these as it is well worth it, ours had sliding doors with chairs to chill in. Tiki bar was fun and food good, as was the pool area, could do with a handful more loungers but as we were at the pool early on it was no problem as most people did'nt get to the pool until after midday, and by 2 we had had enough sun. Siesta key beach is amazing, but was very busy so we moved on to Nokomis beach further south which is much better and much less crowded, also saw some dolphins in the harbor. All in all an excellent choice and will return again. Free continental breakfast to boot.

Room Tip: Pick a waterfront view, you wont regret it.

We were pretty happy with our stay here. We had two rooms for our family of five. Complimentary breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. Staff was friendly. Outside looks aa little run down but fine. Rooms were pretty basically, but clean and comfortable. Got what we paid for.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor if stairs are an issue for you.
