I visited this beach twice during my recent trip. The sand is really soft here, so it makes for a great walking beach. It has a very gentle slope walking in, so its easy to get in the water, even for the someone that has some mobility issues.
One of the days I went, the water was really calm. On that day we swam, and had a great time. On the second visit the water was really choppy, a little too much for us to swim. Plus the water close to the shore was so full of kelp that you couldn't get in without it wrapping around your legs. I don't know if its there all the time, but during both our visits there was a huge sandbar that stretched from the beach to about 1.000 feet out. So on the day it was too choppy to swim we went out on the sandbar and looked for shells sweeping in. Water was deep enough to sit in and it came up to our busts. Plus you could sit on the side of the sandbar and hang your legs over.
Overall its a great beach. The only thing missing is there isn't a boardwalk or any restaurants and shops to access from the beach. And from the area we were in there wasn't any restrooms or shower huts. There were a couple of showers on the street as you leave, but they didn't do much.
