Myakka River State Park is a lovely state park with abundant wild life in a serene setting. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to see such a beautiful setting and be able to get "up close and personal" to the wildlife.....alligators sunning on the bank, spoonbills flying high overhead, turtles digging in the mud, water snakes resting near the bridge, etc. We also enjoyed our trek up the 75 foot tower to view the wetlands, grasslands and prairie above the tree canopy. To ensure that you can take the various wildlife tours offered, check the time schedules for the tours AS SOON AS you get to the park. There is a summer schedule and winter schedule.
