“Excellent birding at Myakka”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Spent a good hour on the Birdwalk, spotting many different species. Local expert was very helpful & added a lot to our visit. Saw 3 alligators & many different birds from the road soon after we entered the park. The canopy walk was fun, but very short and with people waiting behind us, I didn't want to linger and really look around for long. we'll return next year and look for new birds. Happy to pay the $6 admission fee to help support the park.

“Enjoy nature, forget about the boats”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

Bring your viewing glasses ! Lots of gators, egrets, pelicans, herons, ...
Even saw an armadillo - everything in a very natural environment.
Do not waste your money on the boats.
Canopy walkway and tower are nice, but not too spectacular.
Overall worth spending a day with your family.

“Great park for Florida nature”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

Check current prices on their Web site. There is a cost for park entry, air boat tour, tram tour, etc.

We did the air boat tour. Large slow moving boat and narrated. Lasts about 45 min. Our pilot was very informative, worked hard to make sure both sides of boat saw the same things, and checked down the engine when he spoke.

Save the red tickets! Gets you 1/2 of the tram tour, which we were unable to do. Located same spot, 3 miles straight ahead from entrance.

Went to the canopy walk on way out of park. Its about 5 minutes down the trail. Wish the structure was a bit bigger since there was many people while we were there. Fyi, although it is cabled, both structures sway from the people walking around on them. Can be unsettling to some.

“Don't waste your money on the boat tour unless there is alligator activity!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

Beautiful, scenic park, however, wasted $40 on an hour long, overly crowded, tour of the lake...didn't see anything except five birds:/ It's a shame that they actually sell tickets during the times they KNOW you won't see anything cause of weather conditions and time of day...shame on you! I think they should have refunded everyone!

“Wasn't worth it for us”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

We were staying on Anna Maria so this was a bit of a drive for us. The park is very spread out, and so you're almost forced to drive from destination to destination inside the park. The hikes weren't very long, and kind of repetitive. Interesting tower, but really, not that exciting. Plus, it was not the warmest day in December and quite windy, so we didn't get the benefit of seeing any alligators. Maybe that would have changed things, but all in all, not the most exciting park.
