We arrived at 11:30 just in time to miss the 11:30 boat tour. However, we purchased tickets for the last tour of the day at 1:00 p.m. We used the time in between to use the bathrooms (very clean!), to take a quick walk to the damn where the lake meets the river (great bird sightings and fishermen), and to eat lunch at the picnic tables (beware of squirrels as they have no fear of humans and will try to take your food).
The boat ride was fantastic. It is an hour in length which is just the right amount of time. The guide had a good sense of humor and really knew the names of all of the different birds. The top speed of the boat is only 8 miles an hour so you won't feel "blown away". We saw tons of alligators.
After we finished with that tour we drove around the park a bit and decided to walk the "canopy trail". This is the one you see in the photos with the bridge. It was a flat easy walk. The start of the trail said it would take 40 minutes but it did not take us this long. You will be rewarded at the end with a walk across a swinging bridge and a climb up a tower which gives you spectacular 365 degree views of the whole area.
Entrance to the park is $6.00 for 2 people and the boat ride costs $12.00 for 2 adults.
