“Rainy season trip to Myakka”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We drove two hours to visit Myakka River State Park. Who knew that black cloud would hang over the park for several hours. We chose not to hike much because of the rain and the mud but we still enjoyed ourselves. We saw deer, hawks, vultures and other beautiful large water birds. The scenery is beautiful even with the rain. We plan to return this winter so we can hike on some of the trails.

“a great trip”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

We are on vacation and this rates as one of our best value for money trips.
The satff are friendly, courteous and informative. We stepped straight onto the air boat on our arrival, seeing many alligators and species of bird, including the vultures. We also later did the Canopy walk, which afforded us splendid views of the park.
All this cost us $30 between us!
The park is easy to find and well signposted. I can appreciate that with more people there, it would probably feel crowded, but for these two visitors from England, it was an unspoiled, uncommercialised, haven.
Highly recommended.

Michael, Nottingham.

“Beautiful wildlife!”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

This is a beautiful state park with lots of deer, alligators and birds. My husband was able to get quite close to a hawk and take a gorgeous picture. There are great walking trails and a fantastic bird walk. Lunch at the snack bar was great too. Will be camping there again I am sure.

“Great place to take out of town guests”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Get a little taste of "old Florida" when you drive through this lovely park. Many things to do including kayaking, airboat trips among the alligators, picnic area, fishing, camping and gift shop and snacks. Numerous hiking trails, bird walk and the canopy walkway. Great family outing and the kids will love it. I visit it often.

“Jump in the forest”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

Well .. I enjoy biking there ... the way is so beautiful, quiet and well kept.
You will meet alligators, all sorts of birds, wonderful trees and plants, deers .. butterflies !!
Nature there is amazing (as everywhere in USA). It flows through 57 square miles of wetlands, prairies and woodlands. Myakka is popular for hiking, fishing, camping, and wildlife observation.
Very nice is the birdwalk , the Canopy walkway, the airboat tour (very interesting!) and an horse trail !!! There is also a nice gift shop where you can find something to eat and drink.
You can go camping or rent a cabin and enjoy the real wildlife ..
