Owner description: A sprawling botanical garden.

It's probably not fair to rate a Garden in mid February, however, I was disappointed by the lack of color in the garden itself. The enclosed houses (hot houses) contained many rare and unusual plants and flowers, many of them in bloom. They were indeed beautiful. The short movie is well worth the several minutes it took to describe the plants and how they grow.
The master gardeners did an outstanding job in explaining how to care for the orchards and other plants. I would go back but not in the winter.

The small glasshouse, with orchids, bromeliads, and other plants, is one of the most beautiful I've seen.

This is certainly on the list of must see in Sarasota. It is a beautiful garden with so much to see. Don't miss it

Tropical Bromeliads plants are the specialty here which are very interesting. There are
also uniquely interesting plants & trees spread out from a conversatory through wandering paths, marked with artistically beautiful signs. There are benches in spots to rest and enjoy the beauty.
A original Selby home houses a small cafe & the choices are tasty and inexpensive. Another
home that was acquired to become part of these gardens has art works on display, and in it's
carriage house is tea tasting room with many wonderful choices of teas and gifts for tea drinkers.
The gift shop has many beautiful things as well as books for adults and children, and part of it a nursery with potted plants. It was a very enjoyable Florida experience for a gardener from Michigan.
