“Wonderful State Park”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

We were day visitors to the park but enjoyed the layout and how the parking was about a mile from the beach. We walked to the beach in the morning but after a day on the sand & water elected to take the free tram back to the parking lot.

The trams run every hour so you would need to time your beach exit if you want to use the trams. The water had some algae and seaweed but it had rained the night before. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and warm gulf water.

“Great for families”
Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

I have stayed here 3 times. It has cabins, bungalows, and an area for RVs. I stayed in the RV area the first time, bungalow the second, and a cabin the third time. I've always had a great experience. Lovely beaches. Dunes that are kept natural looking by state park restrictions. Spacious beach, no fighting for a good spot. It is very relaxing. The cabin and bungalow were clean and kept when we get there, there is no maid service you have to clean up after yourselves, but it's not a resort it is a park. The tram to get to the beach (.7 miles away) is always very timely. Not a bad walk either if you want the exercise. Love it!!

“good for hiking and biking”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

We hiked a couple of days and rented bikes one day. It was huge fun riding bikes in the woods. When we were there the ocean and wind were pretty intense. The sand is white as snow. There are cabins, campers, and also quite a few RVs. Good facilities and friendly staff.

“Pretty great place”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

We had a great time. Nicest bathrooms and pretty nice staff.

We did tent camping and my only complaint is that the site we reserved flooded while we were staying in it the first night. When we went to the desk they said oh yeah that site will be under water by morning.... Things that should have been mentioned when we checked in! That being said they moved us to another site that was bigger and better.

The beach is awesome just make sure to walk to a spot without Algee. Compared to local beaches about 1/50 of the crowd!

Tram pickup was close to us and was great to drop off and pick up from beach.

Quite at night and sites are pretty spread out you wouldn't hear each other.

Close to Walmart which has anything you forget. Wifi didn't work while we were there.

Overall probably one of the nicest tent sites in a state park.

No big bug issues in bathrooms.

“This is it!!!!”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

What a wonderful place to RV/camp. The bike ride to the beach was pretty hefty, but there is a tram. The RV sites were great, though there was some ponding by some of the sites due to the high water table. There is no, on-site wifi, but there is a hot spot by the camp store. The comfort stations were clean and roomy. This is our new favorite RVing place at the beach
