My wife and I have stayed at this cottage resort twice, our first time in 2006 and again in 2007. Mark and Kathy, as noted in previous review, are indeed excellent hosts and have always gone out of their way to make sure we were satisfied and that everyone of our needs was met. The first time we came in 2006, we stayed in the "sandpiper" cottage, this is perfect for couples; the cottage is very well furnished, clean and comfortable and walks out to a gazebo which is near the pond in the back of the property, you might even see a gator there once in awhile ( he he), we saw a small one our first year there but it didn't seem too interested in making friends with any humans; getting back the cottage itself, it is furnished with all appliances, a fully stocked kitchen with a coffee maker even, plenty of towels and all necesary for a stress free stay; if you want to save on eating out, get your own groceries in nearby Ft Myers or on Sanibel if you don't mind cooking, the kitchen makes this possible. You get a complimentary use of beach chairs/umbrella and even a parking pass to the beach that is down the road form the resort. THE MAIN POINT HERE IS, THIS UNSPOILED AND UNCROWDED so if you are looking for this kind of atmosphere, you came to the right place. The second year we came back, in 2007, we opted for the bigger IBIS cottage, again..........clean, comfortable with the exception that it's bigger and accomodates more people, one of our family members joined us later on in the week so worked out perfect. The resort itself is right up the road from the beach, a pristine beach that is.............or it's a short drive from Bowman's beach or other aea beaches, including Captiva Island. If driving is not your thing, there are complimentary bikes you can use, first come first serve, but we have always been able to use them when we wanted to. Mark and Kathy do a great job here of providing reasonable, clean and comfortable lodging, in a resort that is away from the crowds and resort settting, but definately cheaper than what you would expect to pay for a week's stay in the dead of winter at Sanibel, if you compare prices with other resorts, it is not even a comparison. It is not a fancy, or high tech resort with all the gimmicks by any means, but the charm, excellent hosts and location away from the crowds definately makes up for it; these are older cottages that have been well maintained and if you are looking for a place to just relax in, this is it, we will DEFINATELY be back there...........Well done Mark and Kathy !!!
