My husband and I decided to try Sweet Melissa's although the reviews had been mixed. What a nice surprise!
We shared the Grilled Romaine salad which was excellent. Also had the cheese selection as a starter, really very nice.

Our server was Paul who was excellent, helpful and timed our diner perfectly. Wine by the glass were nice choices.
My husband ordered the Cobia as his main course, The dish was served with a lovely pesto and delicious vegetable sauté with fingerling potatoes and tiny onions.
I ordered the appetizer size Mussels with a marvelous cream sauce with spinach and a touch of brown mustard as my entree. It was perfect.
We had early reservations, 6:30 PM, as we were leaving the restaurant was filling up, and this was at the end of the season. We would suggest if you want to dine here you make reservations early.

Does not look like much from the outside, but is very well decorated and pristine on the inside. We stopped because Sweet Melissa's cafe has a screen porch for outside dining. Wonderful and prompt service. The food was also very good...highly recommend the shrimp bisque and quiche of the day. Will definitely return on our next trip down.

Had lunch (unable to get in for last minute dinner) and found this to be a very worthwhile stop. Our waitress was very pleasant and enthusiastic about the menu. We had the steak salad and grilled romaine salad that were both excellent. The ice tea was refreshing. Would love to return for dinner in the future.

The restaurant is a winner from the time you walk through the door. Very well laid out and tastefully decorated. The hostess and wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. The wine list is extensive although a little pricey. However the pours for the wine by the glass were generous. The menu is very creative with 2 portion sizes for entrees. We got the Heirloom tomato, watermelon, mozzarella salad to share and it was awesome. The portions are very generous even for the smaller portions. Very creative ingredients and presentation.

Two of us had an excellent dining experience at Sweet Melissa’s Café. The menu had some different creative choices, which we always like to see. We started with appetizers of red and gold beet salad, and cured yellow fin with avocado and ponzu sauce. Both were flavorful, attractively presented, and generous portions. Entrees are offered in petite and large portions, a nice touch. We had sweetbreads—crispy, flavorful, and a nice texture, and the pompano special served on a bad of sautéed Swiss chard, faro, and a mélange of golden raisins and chorizo; the fish was delicious, perfectly cooked and moist. Desserts were 5 spice ice cream—rich and gingery tasting, and chocolate torte with chocolate and orange sorbets. The service was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, solicitous, and well-paced. Highly recommended.
