We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Sweet Melissa's from the reservations, how we were greeted and seated, the friendly cheerful waitress, food and general cozy, relaxed ambiance. The six of us sat at a spacious round table. The chairs were nice and comfortable. The food was very tasty and beyond our expectation (you can tell that there are real creative chefs in the kitchen). Recommended: Beet Salad, Smoked Beef Tenderloin, Fettuccine, Scallops, Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream. The wine list had a good selection at reasonable prices. We left happy and decided to return again next year. I would not recommend this restaurant for dinner for a family with small children.

Parking lot never crowded, lovely ambiance, well trained staff ... what's not to like? The food. Descriptions that sound yummy when ordering seems pretentious once eating and an injustice upon paying. We loved the practice of offering small and large portions of the entrees. If they could only get the cooking right.

We were newbies to Sanibel and if we had missed Sweet Melissa's we would have missed a gem on the island! Most of the restaurants are pricey as such is the way of islands anywhere, but some are just pricey with names. The wait staff was wonderful, friendly and attentive. The food was terrific! Don't miss this. There are people who go out to eat and people who go to dine, include us in the later. Quiet, pretty and a great chef!

Last year our experience here was superb. This year everything was a little "off". Sorry to say I don't even remember any of the entrees except that my sister loved the salmon, my husband and his quail- not so much. Key lime dessert was forgettable. Everything was just too complicated and layered to taste specific ingredients. Service was rushed and preoccupied. Where is Melissa? Maybe she had better get back to her roots, and I don't mean the roasted kind.

Whilst staying on Sanibel island we visited Sweet Melissa's for an evening meal one Friday. The restaurant is smaller than most restaurants on Sanibel and has an intimate atmosphere encouraging a smart standard of dress which we appreciated.

We started with a Sanibel Sunset cocktail which was excelllent and quite powerful! Bread with an oil dip was served automatically.

My wife and I were pleased to see that the menu allowed for "small plates". Coming from the UK we are often overwhelmed by the sheer amount of food presented in most restaurants in the USA.

We settled for the small plates of steak loin, spinach and mash. Beautifully cooked and just the right portion size for us. The kitchen is within the dining area so Melissa and her staff can be seen at work! The service was excellent and attentive. Afterwards we had two delicious home made deserts.

Will be back next year for sure.
