“Small, quiet, quaint family resort on beautiful Sanibel island”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

We have been going to Caribe for over thirty years with our family timeshares. There are bigger and more glamorous resorts on the island, of course, but this location is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are spacious enough. The one bedroom sleeps up to 6 but is comfortable with enough privacy for two. There are two washers and dryers. The resort has plenty of bikes that are relatively new and are free for use by guests. Some have child seats on the back. There are toys in a box that children are free to use. Outside grills and picnic tables are always available. There is a big fat resident stray cat to keep you company. The resort is pet friendly, with free parking. The beach is just steps away. The best part of this resort is that there are no crowds. There are always plenty of chairs at the pool and the other amenities are always available as well. A great place to relax and unwind! The clientele is mostly older folks but our family if four with school age children felt very welcome :)

We were driving along Sanibel and decided on a whim to check in to this resort after driving by and seeing they had a vacancy. It was 4 o'clock when we called and were offered a rate of $150 for a studio apartment for the night which is spectacular for high-season when most rooms are going for $300+/night. The room was small, clean and and suited our needs perfectly. The resort grounds are immaculate and lead to their private beach. The room comes with bicycles and beach chairs which was a nice touch. Great beach for shelling. We walked down to the beach for sunset and sunrise-very romantic place. The resort personnel were super nice. It doesn't seem like there's much to do after 7pm on Sanibel so don't count on it being a hopping place for nightlife. Great place to be romantic and relax though.

We stayed here through our time share 6 years ago and loved it. Since then, we come back twice a year for a 1 week stay each time. Never able to get it through our time share again, but we just pay for it anyway. The location on the island is perfect, close to all. We always rent the Outrigger cottage. It's perfect for 2 people. We BBQ every night! If you don't get a cottage, studio #8a is great (on the end, 2nd floor, with a big window overlooking the beach). 1 bdrm # 3a is the best, you have 2 patios to relax on.
The girls in the office Dawn, and Angela are very sweet and accomodating! Jerry the groundkeeper is super nice, and takes care of whatever you need ASAP.

This is our third visit to this charming hotel. The rooms have kitchen facilities, which is great to make your breakfast and any meal as its fully equipped.
We had a room in the A block with a terrace, the place only has 20 rooms.
Ask for a second floor studio, with sea view. You will be enchanted.
This is a place to relax, walk the beaches, and a good place to be to explore the island. The pool is heated, they lend you bikes, the rooms are not luxurious, but very adequate and are spacious with lots of cupboards. The whole complex is well looked after, but it is old fashioned in a way that makes it different to all the other glitzy, concrete resorts. Recommended for couples. They have a special 'Walk in ' rate that is brilliant, if you want to chance it, and just arrive before 5PM.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the second floor, with a sea view. Pets are allowed and the ground floor rooms have a...

Got a pretty good deal through AFVC for one week stay. First the negative - The resort is small, old and could use some upgrades to the furniture in the units, very very very small studio units, ok for 2 people max, very small bath rooms, has a murphy bed that is uncomfortable, we put the mattress on top of the pull out sofa after the first night which made it a little better. When we checked in we we asked if there were anyone one bedroom available and was told no by the management, which was a lie because the one bedrooms units were empty all week, we asked about the two stand alone units and was told that if we wanted to pay an additional $1,750 we could have the small one that looks like it is possibly a trailer or something, we also asked to be moved to a ground floor unit because my husband is disabled and was told that there were none available, lie number two. They do not use computers and everything is on this huge calendar board and i think the lady was too lazy to make the changes to the board. We found out later by the staff that the manager would rather have empty rooms than to let customers upgrade to the larger rooms even if you are a timeshare member.

The good - it is on the beach, has old Florida feel, less than one-minute walk from our building, clean heated pool and hot tub, free bikes, beach towels and beach chairs, several gas grills, quiet, nice landscaping. Staff was very nice. There were no kids the week we were there, mostly older retired folks, which was great. Very close to shops and restaurants.

If you plan on grocery shopping i would suggest going to Publix before you get on the Island or shop at Bailey's. Jerry's is very expensive.

I would not return to this resort only because of being lied to by the management.

Room Tip: Call ahead to see what rooms are available before you book! Ask for a room in the building closest t...

Yes, we are back for another two weeks at our favorite resort on our favorite island. For over 50 years we have been traveling and have found our home away from home. The studio units are ideal for couples that love quiet and enjoy viewing nature on this most beautiful island. Be sure to spend time visiting the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge at low tide and you will see a large variety of birds and other animals. Take time to ride the (free) bikes or take a walk on the paved trails throughout the island. The resort is right on the beach and you can see the sun rise and set from this ocean front location. Also, shelling is just fantastic.Check out Trip Advisor for the best restaurants. You will be glad that you took the time to investigate.

This is an older property but it's evident that the staff works hard to keep it up. The grounds are very well kept and it's apparent that the units have been somewhat renovated. I say somewhat because there are a few other things they could do to improve upon the renovations they have completed so far. Like changing out the front doors and refacing the cabinets. There were a few problems that were quickly corrected but one that was not. We had a microwave oven that was missing the part that makes the tray turn, made it nearly impossible to make popcorn without constantly checking to make sure it wasn't burning. The physical layout was not what I expected either, the main bed (queen size) folded down from within the wall. Although the bed was comfortable I was expecting a separate bedroom. I guess next time I will pay more attention to the floor plan. It's a good thing that it was just myself and my wife because the foldaway bed in the sofa was not suitable for sleeping on. This unit was advertised as being able to sleep 4. The location was what made up for all the little things wrong. Right on the beach, it was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beach. I'd probably stay here again but next time I would see if they have larger units.

Room Tip: Pick a larger unit, something that sleeps 6 or 8 rather than the 4 person unit.
