Beach Road Villas
Reviewed June 8, 2010

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on the island of Sanibel and in our villa at Beach Road Villas. The touches of service were nice to walk into to: binder with info, extra towels, clean and tidy equipment.

The Villas are situated in a great location as we didn't have to travel far once over the Causeway bridge. We spent our first (hazy) day on the cruiser bikes available to guests and finally found ourselves, three hours later, at the Island Cow for a lunch of fish tacos! The sun broke and we biked back to the villas to pack up stuff for the beach. We loved how close the beach was, and the walk along the shell-lined pathway was nothing short of picturesque. Beware of the tiny flea-like noseeum bugs. I remember being eaten alive by them the only other time I was in Sanibel, and they got us our first evening while visiting the beach! Bring bug spray and use it after dark.

We made most of our meals at the villa, utilizing the outdoor grill and our screened patio that looked out to the canal. One morning, while eating breakfast, we saw two manatees playing in the canal in front of us! Although we did MOST of the cooking at the villa, we did venture out for Happy Hour at the Jacaranda, just around the corner. It was awesome! We enjoyed great margaritas and two rounds of steamed crab legs, along with peel-n-eat shrimp and mussels. Needless to say we didn't need dinner, and, in fact, returned for live music that night.

We shelled at the beach right before the Sanibel/Captiva bridge and had so much fun finding treasures! Once back at the villa we were able to identify many of the shells we found since we had been slowly constructing the shell puzzle in the game cabinet!! Great to have!

I can't say enough about our time in Sanibel and the property. It was the perfect antidote for the winter months spent cooped up in the Northeast!

Villas are roomy and very clean, the patios overlooking the canals are the perfect breakfast spot. The property is absolutely gorgeous and just a hop, skip and a jump from the beach. The dogs and I will be back again for sure!

We stayed in the Sea Oats Villa. The Villa was very nice, with ample space for a family of up to six. Nicely equipped and lots of extras. The grounds were lushly landscaped with tropical plants. The Villa is about a five minute walk to the beach on a very private road and then a pathway. It has an excellent location. We could not be happier with that aspect of our vacation.

The web page describes this as "luxury accommodations." On that point, I would disagree. This is better than average for a beach setting but is definitely not luxury. The kitchen and bathrooms are dated and very basic. Furnishings are nice but again, not luxury, at least by our standards. One thing that was very unfortunate was a pungent odor that made the first night and next day less than positive. The oder smelled like garbage or something that was spoiled. It may have been from the humidity and from being closed up, but we have not encountered this bad of odor before while traveling in Florida. We believe it was the garbage disposal because it was particularly bad in the kitchen and went away after running some orange peels down it. At any rate, it got better after a day or so.

The owners provide all sorts of recreational equipment for your use including bikes, beach chairs and beach gear. Excellent suggestions for restaurants and activities.

For the price, this was a great choice. It is a very good value for the money. I would not hesitate to return.

My family and I have stayed at the Beachroad Villas a few times now. We always have a wonderful trip. We love the close beach access and the villas are so clean and comfortable. Perfect for families with or without kids. The Resataurants are also great on the Island- The Island Cow is our fav. Very relaxing get away.

We had a wonderful time in Sanibel and were extremely pleased with our accommodations. The Beach Road Villas were very reasonably priced for such a great location on the island and all of the amenities they include. The kitchens are fully stocked which was very nice for staying in and making our own meals a few nights. The villa was spotless when we arrived and we were taken care of very well by their manager during our stay. They even had free bikes we rode around the island in the evening! What a wonderful, stress free vacation.... just what we needed. Thank you Beach Road Villas!

This was our second stay at Beach Road Villas, and will always be our first choice when visiting Sanibel. The location is quiet with convenient beach access, and great amenities. The landscaping and canal view are both beautiful and relaxing. My wife suffers from severe asthma and allergies, and Fred has always taken great care, when preparing the room for us. We also like being able to do our laundry, before leaving for home. Beach Road Villas combines the comforts of home with the beauty and uniqueness of Sanibel.

My Husband, two daughters and I really enjoyed our stay at the Beach Road Villas in Sanibel Island, Florida. The rates are very reasonable and they go above and beyond with amenities such as bikes, wagons to haul all your items to the beach, along with other beach necessities like rafts, chairs, an umbrella etc... We were able to relax without being disturbed by anyone and we were on our own time schedule. I recommend anyone who will be visiting Sanibel, Captiva Islands with their family to stay at the Beach Road Villas. You won't be disappointed.

Sincerely,
Jack, Candi, Kimberly and Jennifer
