Beach Road Villas
Reviewed June 11, 2012

we had an fantastic time at beach road villas. waking up to the tropical view out the sliding glass door in the master was a great start to each day. love the screened patios w/fans (our even had a hammock!) - a must in any florida rental. the villa was nice, with new furniture and an updated kitchen, comfortable beds and most of the things you need for the kitchen (note to self: next time bring aluminum foil). my 2.5 year old son loved our weekend away, although he was convinced that the actual property was named "santa-bell" and i think a little disappointed to figure out that santa didn't actually live there. if you're traveling with kids the property has lots of beach toys (and wagons with which to drag them to the beach); although there is not a bike with a baby seat available among the array of free bikes at your disposal you can rent one just down the road... perfect for cruising and trips to DQ!

When I arrived at the Beach Road Villas I could tell from the architecture that they have been around for awhile. The decor of the unit we stayed in (Sandpiper) was 70's ish, but very comfortable. On the outside, it is apparent that the managment is working hard to offer a tranquil garden-like experience - and succeeding quite well. Sitting in the garden or by the water is a great way to while away the time. Inside, the whole place was clean as a whistle. The kitchen is newly redone with all the amenities needed to fix meals and avoid the crazy mobbed restaurants. The living room and bedrooms have the 70s decor and the furniture does show it's age. But nothing is 'worn out' as I have found at other older resorts. The couches and chairs are all in good shape and comfortable. The bed I slept in was extremely comfortable. The bathroom is definitely showing it's age. All the fixtures work fine but they've reached the age where its tough to keep them looking good. The manager told me that re-doing all the bathrooms is their next major project. While we were there they were in the process of resurfacing all the cement walks and porches. So it appears that there is definitely $$ being invested back into upgrading the place. On the 'new' side, it was really nice to find free excellent wi-fi connectivity. An unusual addition that I haven't seen elsewhere was a docking station for my I-Phone to recharge and tie-in to the stereo.

Their location is great. Once you're over the bridge from Fort Myers, it's a very short drive and it totally avoids the often found bumper-to-bumper traffic on some of the main streets. It's an easy mostly-shaded walk to the beach. But if you prefer, they have free bikes to use. Beach chairs, umbrellas, wagons are incuded as well.

I own timeshares and have visited lots of places in Florida and Mexico. We don't care about glitz and neon. Beach Road Villas has the quiet character we always feel 'at home' in. We really loved our stay and will definitely return. The memory of sitting on a bench by the water early in the morning with a cup of coffee, watching fish jump, listening to the birds and waiting to catch a glimpse of 'Martha' the resident manatee will keep our desire to return, burning brightly.

Room Tip: They have 4 apartments - all face the same way, all are quiet.

Beachroad Villas is one of the most relaxing, peaceful places on earth. The property is pretty, clean and very comfortable. Having bikes on the property is so convenient to ride to the beach, lighthouse and numerous great restaurants. Overall great trip and would highly recommend it to all ages.

Our first visit to BRV was about 1 year ago. On both visits we have enjoyed the ambience of the complex of 4 villas, the niceties of fully equipped kitchen/laundry, full dining and living areas, screened patio and balcony.

This year my nephew and his family and one of my brothers and part of his family are staying here. All of us will have a family reunion BBQ while here!

I think one of our favoritie things is watching Martha the manatee and her offspring in the canal in front of the complex. A pair of osprey have their next high above the end of the canal and are fun to watch, too. With the beach about 1/4 mile away we've enjoyed shelling and this year watching the "super moon" rise over the Gulf of Mexico. We'll be enjoying the grill and hot tub later this week, as well as the bikes and the gotobeach gear provided free to BRV guests!

My son and I spent a week in March at Beach Road Villas. We were in Sea Oats Villa, with ground floor and master bedroom lanais overlooking the canal. The seashell-laden beach was a short walk down a lovely path. The water was perfect for swimming and the sand so fine. It was difficult to choose which shells to bring home as they all were beautiful. There are many bike paths easily accessible, and convenient for jogging.

The unit has two good sized bedrooms, sharing one bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the linens of good quality. The bathroom was somewhat dated relative to the recently updated kitchen and powder room, but apparently is scheduled to be updated this year!

The living/dining room was spacious. We had many meals on the lanai. All of the rooms had ceiling fans, which alleviated the need for air conditioning. The kitchen was well appointed. Having use of the propane grill was very handy, and a nice way to meet other guests at the villas.

The grounds of the property were beautifully landscaped, with many trees in fruit (we indulged ourselves harvesting bananas and coconuts). There is a hot tub and deck area with tables, but we did not frequent either. There is an outdoor shower, plenty of bikes to borrow, as well as beach chairs, and if desired, wagons to transport items to the beach.
