we loved everything. Our best meal on the island. This was one that had not made the top lists, and I can figure out why. It was full every night we were out eating so we tried it our last night. Great food and service

There are three possible dining areas, two inside and one is a covered patio. The patio is the best for dining if the weather is right. Then there is a dining room, quite nicely decorated and they have a lounge with a full bar and live music.
The food was extraordinary and the service was fast and fun.
The prices are a bit above the average, but well worth it.
Since the Jacaranda is listed on restaurant.com, you can save some money by buying a certificate there.
They have daily happy hour.

The food was fine, but don't go here if you want good service. They were not especially busy, but we didn't even have someone ask about a drink order for 15 minutes. And then we had to tell our waitress that we were ready to order our meals. And to top everything off, we had to wait quite some time to get our check. I certainly WILL NOT go back here - too many other wonderful options on Sanibel.

I am stunned that Jacaranda isn't rated in the top 5-10 of Sanibel restaurants. My wife has been coming to the island since she was a child and she rates it at the top of her list (although last month was her first trip there, with me). We landed at the Jacaranda Lounge on her birthday, without a reservation. The bartender was tremendous. We had a couple of drinks made perfectly at the bar before heading to our booth for dinner. She got the King Crab and i went with 6 oysters and then the stuffed Grouper.

TREMENDOUS!

We liked it so much we decided to go there again the last night of our stay. This time we hit the Lounge during happy hour. The two female bartenders we had were very fun and outgoing, and even assisted in ordering a dozen oysters and the seared ahi before the Happy Hour special elapsed. i couldnt recommend this place more highly.

(disclosure: i worked in the restaurant/bar industry and have fairly lofty expecations. i observed zero short cuts being taken by the bar personnel or servers, in fact they were quite vigilent in their cleaning efforts during a very busy shift)

now, the Jacaranda isnt for everyone...especially for those who fear the size of the bill. relax, you're on the Island! everything is overpriced...but it sure beats being back home up north on the mainland!
