“Can't help but to eat here at least twice each time I vacation on Sanibel.”

We always enjoy the Island Cow. Nothing beats a huge variety and big portions at a great price. That's why I always eat there a few times each time I spend a week on Sanibel. Try the spicy shrimp tacos!

“Holy Cow! What a Treat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2009

Boy, this place is always busy ... and no wonder: the food is fantastic!

Located on Periwinkle Way, the Island Cow must be one of the liveliest eating places on the Island. Be prepared to wait (and sample some ale in the process!) as this family restaurant is packed noon 'til night, and deservedly so.

The Island Cow has one of the most comprehensive menus ever seen. Literally hundreds of dishes on offer, from sandwiches to steaks and everything in between. There's something for everyone - so all those fussy eaters can be sated. What's more, the prices are very reasonable compatred to portion size, and the quality is outstanding.

The atmosphere is buzzing - even outside where you can dine by hawaiian torchlight. Inside, the decor is fresh and dedicated to everything bovine.

I recommend the sizzing fajitas with a fine glass of Samual Adams to accompany. If you visit Sanibel you'd be a fool to miss out on some Cowabunga meals!

“Good enough food, does not live up to the hype”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2009

This is the 3rd time in 4 years we've been to Sanibel. We stumbled upon this place at the end of our first trip and loved it. Great food, good casual vibe. 2 years later it seemed a little more worn, was dirtier and they had added the obligatory tourist trap t shirt shop. Went there this week one year later and the 1.5 hr wait was not worth it, went back earlier the next night. It was above average food but def not worth the wait! It is good for kids so like much of sanibel, very family friendly. I must say I thought the tables and floors were filthy (AGAIN). Even the chairs on the patio where you wait eneded a hose and a good soapy scrub down. The floor in the restaurant was so dirty I did not want to put my bag down- our table had food spills on it and when I wiped it down myself they all came off. Gross. The utensils smelled like old dishwater. But in spite of this, the staff and service are good, food was as good as what we've had elsewhere on the island.

“Typical Island-y Tourist Trap”

Good food - check; good service - fine; wait-time of over 1 hour and 15 minutes -- not worth it.

“Fun for Families, Good food, Worth the Wait”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2009

I enjoyed Island Cow, and between my family and me, we ate practically everything on the dinner menu!

It is what it is--kind of a tourist trap, but the food is good, and they serve practically anything you can imagine, so even picky eaters should find something. I had the gator bites and a reuben sandwich. If you have kids, this is a good place to go, due to the wide range of choices. It is a fun atmosphere. Kind of loud, but enjoyable.

It is VERY busy during high season-you will have a better chance of being seated at off times. They do have a lot of tables, including two outdoor seating areas.

Good eats, fun times, a nice place to go.
