We chose this restaurant for lunch as we were looking for a place to eat on the water. I was a bit hesitant after reading earlier reviews from a few days prior, however we were not that familiar with the island and had a hungry three year old in tow. It was raining the day that we went and not that crowded...there is not a lot of seating and we quickly got a seat. We had the coconut shrimp, tuna melt and homemade chips, which were all good. The chips have this really good seasoning on them which made it hard to stop eating them. The outside atmosphere was fun for our son...he loved walking around and looking at all of the boats in the marina.

On our first night it was raining, which probably kept some of the crowd away from Grandma Dot's, but there are not a lot of table's inside. If it is not raining there is outside seating. We had 3 different families that wanted to split up how they were sitting, which the waitresses were not really wanting to accommodate. So we waited for another table to empty out so we could at least sit by each other and not mess up their rotation. The first waitress was a tad snippy, so I was worried the meal was going to be a disaster. Thankfully when we moved to a different table we had a much nicer waitress who was more than accommodating. I had the fried coconut shrimp, which had a ton of food with it, it came with fruit and chips. They have a dinner portion that comes with different sides, but the basket portion was huge and tasty. I think they have non fried options, but most of the orders I saw come out were fried fish and seafood. It was a great value, I think it was our cheapest dinner on the island and very tasty !

My two friends and I had lunch and then dinner here the next day. This is a very small establishment but the waitress we had was very friendly and accommodating. We had the lobster curry salad with coconut which was out of this world. It came with several varieties of fruit all very fresh. We went back for an early dinner and had the fresh crab salad and tuna salad all delicious. We ordered a basket of the homemade potato chips which were great! I give this a 10 out of 10!!

This longstanding restaurant is situated in the marina on Sanibel. It is showing its age and is pretty basic inside - bare tables and chairs and limited A/C - so definitely not somewhere to go for a special occasion! However it is ok for casual dining for families with younger children. Our steaks were excellent and the service was efficient so all in all we enjoyed our meal but we will not rush back.
