The Lighthouse Cafe is the real deal - the breakfast was unique and well executed, and the design of the little restaurant, packed wall to wall with pictures of lighthouses, was full of character.
You will likely wait for a table as the restaurant is very small, but it is worth the wait.
I had the Seafood Benedict on a toasted croissant. The croissant was covered with fresh veggies, scallops, bay shrimp and crab meat. The flavor was excellent, but the faux crab should be replaced with real crab meat to bring this dish to the next level. It would be worth a dollor or two more for real crab.
The home fries were crisp and covered with a spice that seemed to have a slight flavor of Old Bay: very good. My daughter had a whole wheat pancake, which was excellent as well.
Of the breakfast restaurants I visited during a week on Sanibel Island, the Lighthouse Cafe was the best.
