Review of Sanibel Causeway

Many other reviewers have covered well the various features of the causeway and beach areas beneath it. For me, the thing about the causeway is it is literally the bridge between the ordinary life left behind on the mainland and the relaxed, easy world that is Sanibel. I try not to go back over it until I absolutely have to in order to catch a flight back home.

What other causeway hopes over several little islands and offers spots to pull off and enjoy the beaches and surf en route to the main island? Loved it!

I wanted to see what shelling was like at the causeway areas and it was somewhat disappointing. We found quite a few conch shells, an intact cockle shell and a pretty neat tulip. It does appear to be a popular place to spot dolphins so we were very happy and sprang to action trying to record them. You can also see quite a few pelicans on the sand bars. So a good place to see wildlife. Free parking is also nice.

After paying the $6.00 toll park anywhere for free all day long. many nice bathrooms, cooking area and more than enough places to fish, sunbath or relax. More sand on the gulf side than the bayside. Shelling is ok but not great. Many water sports happen here too.

I think I am missing something. I think this refers to the three mile bridge you cross to get from Ft Myers to Sanibel, it is very pretty--especially at night. There is one lighted area that is made so there are bars of light, dark, light, dark as if thru a fence--I have to wonder if that induces seizures in vulnerable people.
