We liked Gulfside City Park Beach because we could bike to it in about 8-10 minutes from the Kona Kai where we were staying. Watched as many sunsets here as we could..next favorite is Tarpon Beach...note the sign at entrance..No Nude Bathing :) ...bike racks..good bathroom facilities adequate parking..though we biked and did not have to pay parking fee of $2 hr..

If you are driving to the island, be sure to be there early, before 9am, even on a weekday as the parking is severely limited. We arrived at 10:30, tried three lots that were full with cars waiting for a spot to open up. The city has done a terrible job of creating sufficient parking and you could drive around for an hour on the island and never get a spot wasting your day.

Pretty beach with tons of parking. The other beaches we visited on Sanibel and Captiva had limited parking. The bathrooms were very clean. The sunset was very pretty too. We saw several birds too.

The key to shelling on these beaches is to roam the south side. And that is the point of visiting the beaches of Sanibel, shelling.

We must have hit this beach on an off day. We were disappointed in it. The water was a gross gold/brown and there was a lot of junk in the water: pieces of plastic, paper towels, a condom, and a ton of jellyfish. Zero shells of interest (besides all the standard shells). We much preferred Bowman's beach and our beaches on Captiva.
