“was it the food?”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We enjoyed a great meal of fresh fish at a reasonable price. However,, my wife got sick that night. We're not sure what from. Maybe just a coincidence.

“Fresh seafood but a bit pricey”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

After a tiring day at J.N. Darling Wildlife Refuge we were ready to sit down and enjoy a nice meal. The Sanibel Fish House was our second choice based on reviews and we enjoyed the experience but it was a bit pricey for what we had.

There's no doubt the grouper was fresh, or the conch fritters tasty. Their key-lim-pie-stuffed cheesecake was also tasty. Our waitress, Gina, was a delight. The food was good the value not so much.

“Best Happy Hour”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

They have an awesome happy hour - domestic draft beers for $1.25, pitchers for $6.00 from 3pm to 6pm. Lots of TVs to catch all the games and the barstaff are beyond friendly. The only food we tried was french fries and they were yummy.

“Get the fried lobster!”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Just went to the Fish House for the second time in 3 days. The fried lobster basket (also available as an appetizer or in tacos) is one of the best things I've ever eaten.
We're from New England and have had lots of fresh Maine lobster, prepared many ways, but never like this. The Fish House takes chunks of tail meat from fresh Florida lobsters and lightly breads and deep-fries them into tender, succulent little nuggets. They are nicely complemented by a key lime honey mustard dipping sauce.
We also enjoyed some expertly shucked raw oysters, crispy grouper tacos, and what my wife says are the best coconut shrimp she's ever tasted.

“Skip this place-worst on the island”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

I got a horrible fried fish combo platter. They must buy the fish already frozed and breaded. They just open a box, put it in a fryer and put in on your plate. I have had better food from Sea Pac. The cod fillet was all breading, greasy and nasty. We also got a shrimp/crab dip with was greasy with a few tiny shrimp in it. There are way better places to go to eat on the island. In fact, every other place is better. There were not too many people eating there and I will be surprised if it is still there next time we go to Sanibel.
