We drove onto the island and they charge $6 to go over the bridge onto the island. When we first got onto Sanibel Island, we stopped at the welcome center and picked up information. Some of the handy things were the books with coupons and restaurant menus. We toured both Sanibel Island and Captiva but never crossed back over the bridge until the day we left.

We rented unit 209 which is a corner unit on the 3rd floor of the 2nd building for 7-nights in October. It condo was a very clean unit and we could walk around barefoot and our feet stayed clean! The grounds are beautiful with several varieties of trees, exotic flowers and coconut palm trees covered in various sizes of coconuts.

We usually made breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen but at lunch or dinner out. They supplied enough automatic dishwashing detergent for the week and also 2 packets of laundry detergent. There was no coffee or tea supplied but we went to a nice grocery store called Bailey’s on the island that had everything we needed.

The screened-in porch with a ceiling fan was very nice for sitting out and relaxing. The view from our porch looked over the pool and the ocean beyond.

The master bedroom had pillow-top king size bed. The living room had a queen sleeper sofa and the 2nd bedroom had the two twin beds. The master bedroom had a walk in closet so we had plenty of room to hang up our stuff and stow our luggage. If you have a baby, you can rent a crib and other baby items from Sanibel Rental Service.

The outdoor pool was cool and refreshing on a warm Florida afternoon. There was no hot tub. The beach was loaded with shells so be careful you don’t hurt your feet. We opted to buy some beach shoes at the TrueValue store attached to Bailey’s that we used all week. One nice feature in the pool area is a shell washing station.

There was very little that I could fault with this unit. These are nit-picks and I am whining but here goes.
1. There was no beach stuff such as chairs, umbrellas or beach towels. If you don’t bring your own, you can either buy it or rent it on the island from Sanibel Rental Service.
2. This condo complex faces south which means you will not see the sun set into the Gulf of Mexico from your porch.
3. The freezer door on the refrigerator is so close to the cabinets that you can barely open the freezer door. So don’t buy any large items for the freezer.
4. The lock on the outside of the front door is very close to the door jam so be careful that you do not skin your knuckles.
5. There are no luggage carts but they do have and elevator.
6. And lastly, if you park your car outside, look up to make sure you are not parked under a coconut palm tree that has coconuts in it. I think they could do damage if they dropped out of the tree onto your car.

The hardest part of our stay is trying to decide which of the many restaurants to choose for our next meal. We totally enjoyed our stay and were happy we chose the Tarpon Beach Condominium for this year’s vacation.

Room Tip: If you park your car outside, look up to make sure you are not parked under a coconut palm tree.

Really great location if you want to be on the beach but still feel semi-private. Only 27 units total. Large freshwater pool was never crowded and noodles were provided. We stayed on 1st floor and we still had a water view (101). Clean and well-maintained. We found ours through FRBO, and sanibel holiday was the mgmt company. Everything went off without a hitch. We would stay again for sure!

These three privately owned 3 level condos are in the perfect location---the middle of the bow that makes up the outer curve of beach on the southernmost stretch of land. The seafloor shelf extends itself way out so that a swimmer or Sheller won't be in too deep. Pelicans, gulls, and sandpipers make up the usual shore bird population. The condos share a large swimming pool that can be used any hour, day or night. We got the just off the high season rate, which is still expensive. Our unit was on an end, which meant we had a fabulous view of the ocean and just trees that stood between us and the public boardwalk that leads down to the ocean. We enjoyed the screened in porch every day. The condo itself is well stocked with everything renters might need for a week--beach towels, chairs, games, movies, books, washer and dryer, dishwasher, fully stocked kitchen (minus the food), linens, blankets, pillows, cleaning supplies, TVs, Wi-Fi, AC, etc. There is a master bedroom and a second bedroom with 2 twins and 2 bathrooms, so this may be the norm for the other units, as well. Biking and walking are the way to get around to places on this island. The stores and restaurants are plentiful, as well as special places to view and enjoy, with small entrance fees. The beach itself is amazing---mounds of shells appear every day and they are unbroken. I've never seen this occurrence on any other beach. Sunsets and sunrises are astounding and the air temp is really warm. The only annoyance was the "no seeums". The minute the wind isn't blowing, they bite. It doesn't matter what one puts on the skin to ward them off. I recommend this location to anyone who is thinking about a vacation to Sanibel. It rocks!

I am familiar with several units in all 3 buildings. Building 1 is next to the larger Pointe Santo complex on the east, and can sometimes be noisy. Building 3 is next to the public beach. Building 2 overlooks the pool. All units have beautiful Gulf views. As a frequent visitor since 1981, I feel that Sanibel Island is being "loved to death." Traffic during the 4-month high season can turn Periwinkle Drive into a parking lot. The best way to enjoy Sanibel for a week: rent an island condo, purchase groceries in Ft. Myers before you arrive, ride a bike everywhere and stay local, enjoying the restaurants, community theater and music events. Bike to local grocery, hardware store and movie theater.

We stayed in #112, a corner unit on the top floor with amazing views of the ocean and sunsets. The condo itself was very well equipped - we stayed over Thanksgiving and everything we needed to make dinner was there, even a large slowcooker. There were also nice beach towels and a storage unit downstairs with everything you would need for the beach, but still had room to store the 4 chairs and noodles we brought with us. The condo was supremely clean with comfortable beds, bedding and furniture and looked even better than the photos (there's not a mark on the cream sofas!). As with the condo, the grounds, pool and beach were very well maintained and there was even a designated shell washing station and noodles at the pool. It was quiet and low-key with the feel of a residential property vs vacation rentals which suited us. The location is also great - Bailey's and restaurants are right up the street. Wi-fi was reliable and quick (general surfing and streaming YouTube/Netflix...etc). We've been going to Sanibel for 30 years and overall this is the best unit we've stayed in.
