Steps from the beach. Happy hour daily from 3-5. Live music on the weekends. We walked here a few times. Don't be detoured by the fact its linked to a resort. Well worth it. Jeremy makes the best daiquiris!

This has become our traditional spot for a lunch when our Sanibel vacation is ending. Before heading to the airport, stop here for a casual and delicious lunch, by the pool, with an ocena view. Take one last stroll on the beach if you have extra time. Lovely to look at, scrumptious to eat. Always try something new here and never disappointed. This time I tried the Asian noodle chicken salad and it was unusual and delicious. As others mentioned, you might not find this one if you stick to the usual restaurants on the island, but this is worth the "hunt."

This poolside bar and eatery at the Casa Ybel Resort is a great place to grab a casual meal if you're not in the mood for a more formal dining experience at the resort's main restaurant, the Thistle Lodge. You can sit at the bar or there are tables with umbrellas for shade. Each offers great views of the pool, the resort's grounds, and of course the beautiful ocean. On a recent visit, I sat at the bar and had a couple of beers, and they have a nice selection on tap, including Yeungling, which was my choice. I then ordered the seared ahi tuna tacos. I was a little dubious of this Mexican-Asian fusion, but the only thing Mexican about it was the crispy taco shells. The rest was Asian-inspired, and it was superb. The generous portion of tuna was prepared just right -- seared medium rare with a nice crust of sesame seeds. The rest of the taco cavity was filled with greens, sprouts, and cucumbers. The taco shells are dusted with wasabi powder when they come out of the fryer, and I was a little fearful, as many places way overdo it on the wasabi. But it was just right -- just enough to give it a little kick. The 2 tacos were served with a sweet/spicy sauce on the side that you could apply to your liking. Each bite was like a little party going on in your mouth of contrasting textures and flavors. At $13, I thought this was a very reasonable price for a meal at this upscale resort. My server, Heather, was very cheerful and attentive, and knew the menu. If you can afford to stay at Casa Ybel, go for it. It looks like a beautiful place. But if you're touring southwest Florida on a budget (like me!) at least stop there for lunch while you're on Sanibel Island, tour the lovely grounds, and give Coconuts a try. The Resort is a little off the beaten path of Periwinkle Way (which is kind of the island's "main drag") but is easy to find and well worth the trip.
