It is an interesting trip into the history of Sanibel. Be sure to wear comfy shoes as there is a lot of walking.

Have been to Sanibel few times and never bothered visiting the village before. So glad we decided to make time for it on this trip. Fascinating snapshop of island life with fantastic docents. Really brings to life how people lived pre all the modern conveniences we have now. Got great book in the shop on the history of the southwest Florida area. Would love if you could have tea and cake in Miss Charlotta's Tea Room, that would be the icing on the cake.

What a wonderful glimpse into the past of Florida. As they developed the island, the original cottages and business buildings were being destroyed. The museum relocated some of them on this wonderfully landscaped plot and restored and staged them with their original furnishings. A wonderful glimpse into simpler times. I could spend hours there discovering the history of one of the most beautiful islands in Florida! A wonderful place for a picnic, has a very nice gift shop, the museum director, Emilie is very helpful and knowledgeable! A must see for photographers and history buffs or movie location scouts.
