We stayed for a week Apr 8-15 in a Beachfront 1 bedroom suite, bottom floor. We were warmly welcomed by Shahana, who is a gem. We arrived early, but that was not a problem. We used the facilities until our room became available. We also stayed late on our last day, no problem. Our room was perfect. The screened in balcony kept critters out of the room and allowed us to keep the patio doors open to let in the beautiful breeze and sound of the waves rushing in to shore. The pull-out sofa bed was the most comfortable I have ever used. The shower was wonderful, a good steady blast with lots of hot water. The only thing missing in the bathroom, was a make-up mirror as my eyes seem to be dimming with age! We also had problems with the number of beach chairs and umbrellas available. We bought a couple of beach chairs at Bailey's the second day we were there, but did not need to use them again. We passed them on to another couple on our last day for their use. There is a wonderful feeling of serenity at this Inn. Everyone is quiet. There is a lot of room on the beach to spread out and have your own space. The pool water was warm and there was always room to swim around and then laze about. The staff are all very helpful and nice. We had breakfast in the Sea Star Cafe where Carlos was very pleasant and the food was very good. We also used the bar by the pool and ordered take-out there and took it back to our balcony a couple of times. We left agreeing to return next year. We both had a very relaxing, wonderful holiday. One thing that I did have problems with was the wi-fi. It seemed to fade in and out and then finally nothing. Maybe that was a good thing - totally get away from it all!

Room Tip: Our one bedroom beach view suite was perfect - bottom floor could still see the beach

Stayed at this hotel for five days this month and it was wonderfully relaxing and overall a terrific experince. The entire hotel staff were friendly, responsive and genuinely smiling all the time. The wait staff in the restaurant and at the pool bar were accomodating and friendly, the peson working the beach chairs and umbrella stand was very friendly and helpful. The beach was quiet even though there were young kids around as it is not crowded and everyone kept to their own space. The food was actually very tasty, portions were big. The room itself was comfortable, just right but not overly luxurious which was not really an expectation. Frankly we were outside almost all the time anyway. Plenty of hot water for after-pool-or-beach showers. In the kitchen would have been nice to have a small dishwasher but we ate only breakfast in the room so there weren't too many dishes to clean anyway.

Grounds were clean and lush, tropically decorated. Overall a very worthwhile hotel and we really got our money's worth.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and get a beach FRONT room, not a beach view room.

Fabulous hotel. We've stayed here about 10 times in the last 20 years and its been great. The hotel was renovated several years ago and done very tastefully. It's at the end of the island so it's extremely quiet. convenient to the causeway and all restaurants too! we love unpretentiousness of it. staff is friendly and efficient and ready to help! Great stay.

Room Tip: Book an ocean view room, top floor if possible so you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean!

We spent 5 nights here and had a very nice time. The service is outstanding. Everyone is very friendly and more than willing to help. Shahana at the front desk always went out of her way to ensure we were taken care of.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We were on the ground floor with a view of the pool and ocean. Next time we will get a room on the second floor facing the ocean.

The only suggestion I came make is the availability of lounge chairs on the beach. We could never get one during the afternoon. Seems like you had to get out there early and put a towel on one to get it in the afternoon. A couple more chairs, but this is not a deal breaker. We were always able to find seats at the pool.

The hotel is in a great location, a short bike ride from great restaurants and stores, yet you feel like your off the beaten path once in the complex.

We will definitely be coming back next year.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor facing the ocean

My wife and I stayed here for one night in January 2013. It was reasonably priced; the room was nice and we had a great view of the water. We borrowed the supplied bikes and rode all over the island. The beach was very pretty and covered in shells. We would stay here again

Room Tip: The second floor gives the best view some buildings have better beach views then others.

We took our two children, ages 9 & 11, here in early April and had a fabulous time. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff was overall, very friendly and helpful. The kids loved the pool, the beach was steps away, and we were content to just relax and soak up the sights. The food from the on site restaurant, the Sea Star, was very good but the restaurant itself could've been a little cleaner and the staff a little more on the ball. The poolside bar was great and the staff there (minus one rather sour woman) was super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms are great - I would try and get a suite if traveling with children next time.

We spent 9 days at the Sanibel Inn in March. The room was average - we actually had asked for a king size bed when we booked it six months in advance and never were told when we checked in that we couldn't get one. We got to our room and found it was two double beds. We called the desk and they told us they were full and could give us one. They also said they had limited kings size beds in the "rooms type" we had paid for. Then then told us they would call us the next day if one became available. They didn't call for two days and by then we didn't want to move our belongings. We told them that and to their credit they did send us a bottle of wine and some gift vouchers for the restaurant. The help in the restaurant was unpredictable. Joe was very good but the girl who helped out at the bar was terrible. Not very nice and not organized at all. Overall I thought the place was okay, not really up to what I would expect for the cost of the place. Also they ran out of towels and there was a chair and umbrella issue at the beach. Although the chair and umbrella issue is not really their fault because of Sanibel Island restrictions it wasn't great if you tried to go to the beach in the afternoon as you would not get a chair. This was an issue for us as we had our 80 year old Mother there for a few days and she can't sit on the sand. Not sure I would go back to this place but would go back to Sanibel for sure.

Room Tip: You can request a specific room but no guarantee they will give it to you as we requested 6 months i...

I would like to thank the guest for posting their review and apologize that we were unable to accommodate them with a King bed. It is true that 80% of our hotel rooms have 2 Queen bds. However all our gulfront and gulfview suites as well as our 2 bedroom residences have King beds. I want to assure you that we do everything we can up to day of arrival to accomodate guest requests (floors, specific units, bedding, etc) and while we're successful the majority of the time, sometimes we can not make it happen. Our failure here was not informing you at check in nor following up the 2nd day. We've reviewed this with all associates as this is an important step in achieving customer service. Regarding the beach chairs, we are restricted by the City as to number. We are hoping to devise a more equitable system for usage so we can accommodate more guests. Thank you for your feedback.
