Visited Sanibel Island for the first time last week and received many restaurant recommendations from hotel staff and friends who had visited. No one mentioned George and Wendy's which we stumbled upon on our way back from a recommended restaurant that wasn't open for lunch. Lucky for us because we had a great experience at George and Wendy's! Our server Sally was prompt and courteous and the food was excellent! The clam chowder was the best we've ever... delicious and piping hot. I had the Shrimp Scampi which had lots of large shrimp and my husband had the BLT which he said was very good with thick slices of smoked bacon. It was a Sunday so they had live music which was a nice touch. Our drinks were served quickly and we had enough time to look over the menu before ordering. The walls are covered with original paintings that are colorful with an 'island theme' and very interesting to look at. Overall our lunch was great and we will definitely go there again the next time we visit.
