We weren't sure what to expect at Traditions, I guess we were expecting more of an outdoor beach scene from the name. However the Italian proprietor (I'm assuming) greeted us at the door and was so friendly and charming we decided to just go for it. Also one look at the menu and we were sold!

This place has a slightly formal old-school Florida style that was just lovely. Live music and dancing – pianist and a lady singer with a really beautiful voice. It was just charming and very mellow.

The barman who served us drinks was very charming also and made a special kiddie cocktail for our 7 yr old and made me a fabulous 'real' cocktail that was awesome.

Both my husband and I ordered a seafood pasta dish that was sublime. The service was incredible (we were there early mind – 7pm or so) so I'm not sure how busy it gets later on. But it's lovely to see that courtesy and manners are still around and in abundance at Traditions.
This isn't some trendy LA style restaurant nor is it a casual beer and shrimp place. But what you'll get is old school charm, really super food, a mellow atmosphere and a swirl on the dance floor with your loved one!

We dined at this restaurant twice in the same week. The first time was so wonderful, that we returned a few days later. The food was wonderful both times - the overall experience was quite different. The first visit Paulo greeted us, making us feel welcome and Tony was top notch in his service at the table - He welcomed us, let us know the daily specials, insured that we had a choice of water and inquired about beverages. All along the way his attention was first rate.

A couple of nights later, although we had a reservation and requested seating close to the music, our table did not provide a view of the entertainers. Our waiter, John, only provided information regarding specials after we questioned him. Throughout dinner, the service was almost non-existent. Water and wine glasses were left empty (the wine bottle was located away from the table). Attempts to clear the table occurred while I had my fork in hand. The list goes on. We dined fairly early and the waiter only had one other table at time, so the lack of attention can't be attributed to an overload.

We did share the experience with the owner as we departed. Hopefully, others will have as delightful an experience as we had on our first visit. The food was outstanding.

We had the 2 specials of the night, a veal & crab dish and a grouper & scallop dish. The ingredient quality was first rate, but the dishes and presentation needed to be severely edited. They were both over-sauced, hiding the flavors of the ingredients. My seafood was cooked perfectly, but it was difficult to dig out while working through a glob of risotto, a piece of artichoke and a long baby carrot. The veal & crab suffered from an overwhelming amount of madeira sauce. Service was generally attentive, but our server forgot a spoon for my coffee after dinner - I just shrugged it off as being caught in a "tourist trap", swallowed hard and paid my $200+ dollar bill (2 Apps, 2 entrees, 1 bottle of wine, 1 desert, one after dinner drink and a decaf.) The wine list was fairly commercial, but the prices seemed about 20% higher than they should have been. This place is also NOT on the beach, unless you count the manicured white sand area in the courtyard between all of the buildings a "beach".

the space is dingy. didn't get to eat here because they roll up the sidewalk very early, in spite of saying they serve until 9:30pm. when we walked into the lobby of the hotel at one point we saw the waiters dressed up in idiot outfits from the 1950s parading about. less show and more substance!!!

Our favorite place to dine in Sanibel! We love the staff, service & food! It doesn't get any better. We love it so much that we went back twice in the same week!( we return here every time we visit from New Jersey). The food is fresh, delicious and presented in a way to appease the eye. We love the Aqua platter & the Ahi appetizers. The ceviche was so tasty & light ! The pasta special with the seafood was to die for. The grouper and scallops are great options, too. We return here because the owner, wait staff, bartenders, chefs, & entertainers care. This is a great place for dinner. The live music creates a nice atmosphere. We always look forward to returning .
